OT: Comfort & Joy

I was standing in line at Hallmark when this older woman behind me out of the blue says "I need to take a little something to a party tonight that represents comfort and joy. What would you take?". Without any thought I said "Hot cocoa and mini marshmallows. The cocoa represents the comfort and the mini marshmallows are the joy." So what would your response be? She did tell me after I answered that it needed to be a food item.

Hmm...hot cocoa is a good one. Comfort to me is something loving or warm. Paula Deen's food reminds me of comfort, to be honest. lol

Joy makes me think of something shiny, silver, or gold. I'm not sure what I'd do if I was this woman. That's tough!

For comfort, I'd go for brownies or chocolate chip cookies, preferably still a little warm & melty. Joy would be sparkling wine. The effervescent bubbles remind me of the way happiness just bubbles up.

I asked my daughter at dinner last night what her answer would have been and she said "Mashed potatoes." DH says "Okay so that's the comfort but what about the joy?" She said "Mashed potatoes give me joy and they are a comfort food." Thought that was cute.
