OT - Clifton Hill

Hi all,

I am thinking of taking my DS to Clifton Hill, Niagra Falls. I have a rate of 69.00 for the Days Inn on Clifton Hill for this week. (Rates to go)

We would like to do the Maid of the Mist, Behind the Falls, Scream Factory, Ripley's Believe it or Not, 4D theatre, and the wax museum.

I was thinking of doing the Rainforest cafe because we have never been to the one at Disney, but I have read nothing but bad reviews and that it is overpriced. So I am looking for other suggestions for restaurants down there.

How much do you think this all will cost and is it reasonable to expect to do this in one day? Is the Days Inn a good, clean hotel? And is there a shuttle for Clifton Hill, as I have difficulty walking for long periods.


Any thoughts and advice is appreciated. Thanks

We just went down a few weeks ago.
For 30 dollars we got a pass that got us on the ferris wheel, wax museum ripleys, 4d ride plus 2 other things.
We personally cannot stand Rainforset cafe and I do not get the draw to it.
Depending on what you like Mama Mia's at the top of Cliton hill is a staple for basic yummy homemade Italian food.
Around the corner from Momma Mia's is Beef Baron, again a staple, roast beef, steaks etc.

I wanted to check out Rainforest for the "thunderstorm" but if the food is bad, it's not worth it. Mama Mia's sounds good!

Now just hope I don't get lost getting there.

We just got back from 3 days at the Falls.
We stayed at the Sheraton Fallsview and got a day of waterpark package.
We ate one night at Mama Mia's and it was quite good basic Italian food DS and DD loved it. Kids 12 and under eat free right now, but we had an entertainment coupon for one entree free, and for us, that worked out better as DS(13) wanted food off the adult menu anyway. DD got the kids spaghetti and meat balls and it was a very good sized portion.
Just a heads up---we ate breakfast one morning at Perkins.......let's just say never again, without tip, it was $69 for the four of us, and my omlette was so gross I only ate two bites.......Disney is looking cheaper every day

Are you thinking of Nightmares Fear Factory?

DH and his sister went through Nightmares on our late June/early July visit to Niagara Falls. Scared the bejeezus out of them but they LOVED it. I guess its pretty dark in there, so DSis walked behind DH (he's 6' 4" tall and 275 pounds, so I guess she thought she was "safe" behind a big guy, ) and held onto his shoulders. Well, she must've gotten pretty freaked out a few times because she bore finger marks right into his skin. We were staying at Great Wolf and spent a lot of time in the waterpark, so here's this big guy walking around with bright red finger and thumb prints all over his shoulders. I'm sure the other guests must have thought we had a pretty wild night!!

At any rate, they were not surprised that Nightmares had so many "chicken exits", and that many don't finish it. Apparently, its as scary as they say. Not sure if I'd take a kiddo through there unless they are extremely brave. Lots of other "milder" haunted house attractions on Clifton Hill, if you need something a little less frightening.

Just a heads up---we ate breakfast one morning at Perkins.......let's just say never again, without tip, it was $69 for the four of us, and my omlette was so gross I only ate two bites.......Disney is looking cheaper every day

We had dinner at Perkins last summer (2 adults, 2 twelve year old boys). 4 hamburger platters, 4 drinks, tax and tip came to $100.

We thought the food at Great Wolf Lodge was expensive, but it in no way compares with the outrageous prices at Perkins!!

If you're looking for a GREAT place to snack while on Clifton Hill, be sure to visit the Fudge Factory. Yum-mo! They have homemade cookies on a stick & drizzled in milk and white chocolate that are to die for (and only $1.99 each.....a good value when compared with some of the other food outlets there). They also have homemade butter tarts with fudge on the top....heavenly!

Yes, it's Nightmares that I am thinking of. Thank You. You're story is funny. THey have video of people walking through and capture their faces when they are scared. Very funny. They also have video on youtube.

I am the big fraidy cat. Maybe I will go to one of the other ones.

DS and I have had so many events this week for orientation for school, etc. that I was hoping to go today, but he now has an appt tomorrow afternoon.

Hopefully we can get there this weekend before school starts. If I make it down, I will let you know if I chickened out.

That is A LOT for a meal. Hmmm...yummo fudge.
