OT-Changing ownership question re: selling a tent trailer

Hello All ~ Looks like we might have sold our tent trailer. Does anyone know how we go about changing ownership? It have a licence plate....is it the same as selling a used car? Thanks! Sandra

Does a trailer ownership have a plate and vehicle portion like a car?

Yes, similar to a car. Their is no information package that you have to buy for $20.00. No safety required, just sign over the ownerhip like you would a car. The licence plate is yours for life. I'm not sure if there is a fee if you ever transfer it to another trailer. Don't leave it on the trailer. You will have to provide a bill of sale to new owner.

As Great White North said, the plate is yours for live, it does not go with the trailer. You can transfer it over to any other trailer - boat trailer, cargo trailer, etc for no additional charge. Just sign the ownership for the trailer.

If you're in Ontario, yes, it's pretty much the same. I just traded in my tent trailer yesterday and it was the same as when I traded in my car.
