OT-Canada's Wonderland

Hello.

I was wondering if anyone heard that Canada's Wonderland was moving? My brother heard that it may be moving because they need more space for more rides. My brother heard it from some students at a University and someone who goes to Wonderland alot and they asked someone who works there.

Guess where it may be moving? Guelph,Ontario! Woot... a theme park right in my own town. Apparently it will take 5 years. But they would take over farm lands and stuff like that.

We heard this rumour about three years ago, and it never happened. Although i don't have 'confirmed' sources, I go often enough to be pretty sure that they're not moving. True, they just built up around it, but I don't think that means they will move it.

I was with some people last night who said it was sold and it was moving to Niagara Falls. I'll believe it when I see or hear it in the news.

Rumours around Niagara is that it's heading this way. The land it's sitting on now is worth a fortune.

These rumours have been going around for a while. It's still unconfirmed so I'll believe it when I see it (I've been a season's pass holder practically my wholoe life) At most, I believe it may be half true. Because wonderland has no more land, they can't add or expend without tearing up existing rides. So I wouldn't be surprised if they kept wonderland but opened up another in Niagara to finally buld some new rides.

But one rumuor that is true is that Cedar Springs bought it. So far it seems they plan to make no changes.. But I'm hoping they at least allow us to visit other cedar springs parks.

I called Wonderland in the Spring about changes....they said NO changes except for the name since Cedar purchased them....S

I used to work in that area and there has been rumors about it moving for quite some time but I think it would be cost prohibitive. Not sure you can move those rides.

I would think if anything they would sell, which they did to Cedar point.

A theme park coming to Guelph, that woulod be tied up in the OMB for ever (even longer then the Wal Mart). If they were to locate closer to the 401 then it would be a infrastructure problem and that would take a lot of time and money to complete. If it does ever happen it would be nice but I just cant see it.

Yes it is but that took over 10 years of court and OMB battles to happen

Its an urban legend that's been going around for years. The park last year denied ever having any of those plans. Cedar Fair (the new owner) does not build new parks.

Why would Wonderland move? If they needed more land then why did they sell off the surrounding area which has just been made into a housing development. Also, there is piece of land just on the north side which was slated for parking.....it's still just empty space.
It just doesn't make sense.
