We are looking at buying a used pop-up for our trips to FW. Does anyone know any good places to look, websites, etc.? Thank you for any help!

don't know where McKinney Texas is in relation to one of the FEMA lots, but.....FEMA is selling used Katrina Relief trailers (not pop ups, travel trailers). i would never by one from just their auction site, but other posters have confirmed that if you are near one of their lots, you can go there and view them and that some of them are actually in pretty good shape. (some are not, not buy a long shot)

but - if you are specifially looking for a used pop-up, try any RV/camper sales lots in your area. be sure to stick your nose in them and give them a sniff before buying. any musty smell and keep moving. mildew = very uncool in a pop-up. in my area, you can find used campers at the end of folks driveways this time of year and in the fall. My inlaws found a great one for 2K that way a few years back. We were looking at lots and lucked into a new end of sales year Viking basic 9 foot pop up for 3k. it has been worth every penny.

I started looking on Ebay (they have some good pictures) got a good ideal on what kind of lay out I was looking for also an ideal on what they were selling for. I did find a used pop up locally and it was a great starter. Pop ups were I live sell really quick. We have since upgraded to a 5th wheel but we had the pop up for about 5 years, and many great memories!!:goodvibes
Good Luck!!

I would check into a new popup first. This time of year dealers have what they call a "show price" based on recent RV shows. We just bought a brand new one for $3,000 cheaper than the list price. Just something you might want to look into first.

We looked for a long, long time before we found one. It seems that there are lots of really old, yucky ones for sale and lots of newer, but really expensive ones out there, but nothing in the mid-range. We lucked into one because we knew someone who knew someone getting divorced and selling one. Tell Everyone you know you are looking and if you see one in the want ads, act quickly. IMO the RV sales places are selling used models fpr almost as much as a new one.

We bought our pop-up years ago though the RV Trader , do they sell this in your area ?

Thank you to everyone for all of your very helpful info. We have been checking all that was suggested. We have not come up with anything firm yet. We found a used 2006 Fleetwood but have to get the dealer's price down! We booked FW in hopes of having a pop-up but will tent camp with AC if not, FW 7/1-11! Thank you again for all the ideas!:)

We started with a pop up right before my son was born. We have a lot of rv dealers around and found a very reasonable used one that had just been traded in. My husband offered him a lower price and he took it right there. We had an absolute blast in it before trading it in on a TT. I know there is a bunch of them in our local classifieds as well. Make sure you look it over with a fine tooth comb. Good luck and make sure you post a picture when you get it!

You can also do some homework and check values both new and used at www.nada.com That's what I did and worked a really great deal. I just bought a 1998 Coleman Fleetwood slideout for $4,700. It was valued on NADA at a little over $4,600. They said originally it had an awning, so I offered $4,800 as it was so weel taken care of and clean and had a few extra's. Then we found out it did not have an awning. So I made an offer $4,700 out the door to include tax, tag and title. Not too bad I think.

It's a great pop-up. And by the way, we bought it from Giant Recreation here in Ormond Beach, Fla where we live. So you may want to do what I did. I searched RV sales places on the web to find out what they had in stock. Found out if it was still available and then went to take a look. Then I came home and did my NADA homework so I'd know what a fair price was. Then I made my offer.

Have fun and best of luck,
Winnie
