I am getting a sugar glider tomorrow. I will pick out my baby today (hopefully) and ideally he will be able to come home tomorrow (pending I pick one that is old enough to leave mama). Anyway, I want to give him a Disney name. (I am planning on getting a boy, but if I fall in love with a girl, I have already decided on Raja without the "h.") I have narrowed it down to 5 names. My husband and I are leaning towards two different ones on the list, so I need more input. Oh and they live 12-15 years so this is a long term decision.
This is roughly what he will look like for those that don't know anything about them.

He is soooo cute! I love the big eyes.

Sorry, no help on the name.

Wow, is he ever cute! I never knew what sugar glider looked like before.

I voted for Roo because it is the only definitive Disney-esque name in my mind...all the other ones could be something else...but in my mind, there's only one Roo!

On a complete side topic and probably a little disturbing - I like Roo because he is a sugar glider... and sugar is in candy...and candy is prominently featured in the Pooh Heffalump Halloween movie... as is Roo.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how my mind works :rotfl:

Be sure to let us know and post a picture!

Well get this, I got identical twins! Two boys. The breeder had kept them back to breed, but decided against it at the last minute, so they got to come home today! I am fairly certain I will be naming the more dominant and crabby one Sebastian. And get this, the noise they make when they are irritated is called "crabbing." :lmao:

I am still on the fence about the other one. I am toying with Timothy (from Dumbo) but I don't know. And since you guys are split on my original suggestions, you're no help! :rotfl2:

I am not going to start flashing at them on their first day, so I will get pics after they have settled in a bit. :thumbsup2

Well he is just about the cutest thing I have ever seen. :goodvibes DH and I toyed with the idea of getting one of these little guys many years ago. We got ferrets instead. I'm glad for you that they live so long, our ferrets only lived 7 years.:sad1:

I voted Sebastian, and I like Basil for the other guy. I don't know why, I just like the sound of them together.

Congrats!

I went with Squirt just because I think it's super cute and appropriate, but apparently it's last on the list lol.

Good luck with your new family addition :woohoo:

They are adorable. My friend had one, (you do realize that they are nocturnal) That thing kept them awake all the time.

Good luck with your 2 babies.......my teenager wanted one so bad but there was no way i was having one in my house...very high maintenance, nocturnal and screechy...........she got a hampster instead :rotfl:

We got ferrets instead.

Yup, been there. I have wanted gliders for a few years, but I had young (and hungry ;)) ferrets at home. We lost two in November (at 7.5 years and and 2 weeks shy of 7 years old). Our remaining old lady, Boo, is slow and gentle nowadays and seems to have no interest in the new arrivals.

Oh and as for the nocturnal, that is a common misconception. In the wild they are safer to roam at night, but they are bonded animals, so if they bond properly to their human, they will keep the human's schedule. They can also be potty trained or more accurately, the human can be trained to understand their signals and put them in an appropriate potty place when they give the signal they gotta go! :thumbsup2

I managed to get a few pics this morning. They are hanging out in the bonding pouch. Timothy is on the left (with the apple), Sebastian on the right.
