OT - Brief Eurotunnel rant

We've received a piece of advertising through the post today from Eurotunnel, telling us about they're £22 overnight price.

That's all fine and usually, it would just go into the recycling bin and be ignored. However, at the bottom of the card (in small, fine print of course) is the following:

We would like to retain your personal details to inform you of Eurotunnel products and services and certai third party offers that we feel may be of interest to you. we may also contact you for your views on our products and services. If you object, please tick here _ and return to...

So basically, we have to pay for an envelope and stamp to kindly ask Eurotunnel to stop sending us junk mail that we never asked them to send us in the first place.

I hate these opt out clauses - they're crafty because people often miss then. Personally, I think they should be forced to be opt in - tick here _ to receive information about offers.

Yes i think so too... but its likely that you've missed the opt out when signing up or booking maybe. I always make sure i read the small print now when signing up to anything... i like the way they try and trick u too by saying something about newletters, offer etc tick the box then second question about third parties is usually say the oposite to the frist question.... if you get me loool

I know exactly what you mean about the reversed options, because I always notice that as well...

We don't book online very often - our Eurotunnel is normally done through air miles over the phone, so there wouldn't have been an opt-out box to tick

I'm one of them sad people who would actually pay the postage and send it back without even realising...a lot of companies make money out of me lol.

Well at least you dont ge them then.... We signed up to something online that stops your getting junk mail and sales phone call.... its worked... we were getting calls everyday but now we have none....

You could always post it to them, but mistakenly leave off the stamp
