OT: Boy killed by bus on Disney Property

This is so tragically sad. My thoughts go out to his family as well.

Bless this little one and his family!! So sad! Heartfelt sympathy to all involved...the boy, his family, the bus driver, the passengers and the witnesses..such a tragedy.

Poor child and his family... I'm reminded that on the podcast this week Pete discussed all the recent bus accidents at Disney lately. What a shame this has happened after there were obviously issues in their transportation dept. that needed to be addressed.

That just breaks my heart. I cannot imagine what this family is going through. :grouphug:

they cut in to One Life to live today and the helicopter pictures they showed were a bit confusing. I can't figure out why anyone would be walking where they showed the bus to be stopped. The helicopter showed people swimming in the Fort pool and massive amounts of white vehicles stopped near the bus and ambulance.

I bet it is super busy there today and this horrible tragedy made it worse.

just waiting for more info on the local news.

Although I agree that there has been some incidents lately and there may be issues that need to be addressed I don't think those issues were in play in this particular incident. They just updated the story I was following to say that the boy actually veered off the sidewalk and hit the bus which resulted in him getting pulled under the back tire. Regardless it's tragic, I feel for the boys family and cannot even begin to imagine what they are currently going through - however that bus driver also has to live with the fact that he killed a little boy. Was it his fault.....it appears not to have been.....but I know if it had been me driving that bus that I would be asking myself for the rest of my life if there was anything I could have done differently.

My heart goes out to all those involved. I can't even imagine..
Bless that sweet boy and his family. And the bus driver, too :(

According to the article the OP posted, the boy wasn't walking-he and another child were riding bicycles there.

What a tragedy.

This is a tragic accident, however the bus isn't to blame what so ever. My heart goes out to the family and everyone who was involved (Disney guests who witnessed as well). This is such a horrible thing to happen and especially while on vacation...:sad2: This family will never look at Disney the same again, they will always be reminded of this tragic day....:sad1:

There was an article on the front page of the Orlando Sentinel today in which several witnesses clearly saw the boy leave the sidewalk and run into the side of the bus, where he was pulled under the back tire. The parents are on the news tonight blaming Disney, even though they weren't there personally to see the incident. I feel horrible for them and I'm sure they're distraught but investigators have already proven, by examining the scene, that the driver is not at fault. Either they're hoping for monetary gain or are just too upset and in shock to believe the facts---Kathy

Pretty much the same thing happened at the university I went to (bike, person hit the bus, pulled under). Eventually the bus driver was found not at fault, but he and the passengers on the bus had a very hard time dealing with it. I feel for everyone involved in this tragedy.

Now the mother wants to sue Disney because "they" wouldn't let her view the body. I'm not sure if it was EMT personnel or Disney CM's who advised against this as the body was not in a condition for her to view it as a lasting memory of her son. I'm not sure how I'd feel- I don't think I'd want to see my child in that condition but perhaps some people want to see for themselves.---Kathy

While i'm sure it probably was not the drivers fault. i can understand the parents "needing" to blame someone for the loss of their son...they must have such mixed emotions right now..I feel so for them and of course for the driver who has to live with this for the rest of his life - horrible horrible!
