OT! Books Lists For Kids

Silly books? Wayside School books were always my favorite to read to fourth graders - I could always tell who had a developed sense of humor by who "got" the jokes.

My son is reading the 39 clues books right now and loves them. He also enjoys the Choose your own Adventure books - a blast from my past. :thumbsup2

Even though they've been around a long time, Beverly Cleary books really stand the test of time for both girls and boys.

I kept a lot of books from my childhood, so my girls enjoy them...

Little House series, Laura Ingalls Wilder

Chronicles of Narnia, C.S. Lewis

Trixie Beldon series

Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators series

The Marvelous Inventions of Alvin Fernald series

Black Stallion series

Anything by Enyd Blyth

The Borrowers series, Mary Norton

Magic Treehouse series

Dragonslayer's Academy series

Rainbow Magic series

Very Serious Children (book)

Well, shoot, the minute I hit "post" I thought of a great series for summer, especially for middle school boys: The Percy Jackson & the Olympians series by Rick Riordan. the first book is The Lightning Thief. We have it in the teen section of our library--that is, when there are actually copies in stock! Fantasy, action-adventure, humor, and a sneaky dose of Greek mythology. The author has a website if you want to preview the books; you can even hear him read the first chapter of several of them. Recommended for age 10 and up. :thumbsup2

I second this. My son and I have read every one and we BOTH love them!!
