I have just been offered, from a family member, a chance to buy there timeshare at Blue Green resorts in Wis Dells for $1.00.

This is a Red week, a Blue Week, a White week and also 9000 points.

Here's the question...
We understand the week thing... what do we do with the points, other than buy another week in a condo. Can points be used for entertainment, food, whatever?

Any info would be helpful...

Thanks!:confused3

I have owned with Bluegreen for several years and these are your choices:

1. Exchange for another condo
2. Possibly exchange into RCI and use one of their condos (lots more choices then Bluegreen) for an exchange fee which is between $164 (doing it online) or $189 with assistance from a CSR at RCI.
3. Use your points for a cruise-not the wisest use but if you have that many saved it may not be too bad.
4. You will have the ability to get additional "bonus" rentals from Bluegreen and RCI (if you have a membership).

I hope it was explained to you that you will owe annual maintenace and membership fees regardless if you own this outright. There may be some transfer fees also to transfer from their name to yours. The membership fees are $75 annually I believe and your maintenance fees will vary by property but mine in Myrtle Beach is about $655 annually. Before you take this over I would suggest you make a phone call with the owner to Bluegreen to see if there are any outstanding charges, just as an fyi.

I will tell you after staying in condos, it is very difficult to go back to standard hotel rooms. Good luck on whatever you decide:)

We have been Bluegreen Timeshare owners for several years. It really compliments our DVC membership well. We usually use a weeks worth of points for some time in the Florida Keys.

As said before, the Bluegreen bonus time really is a good deal, compared to the DVC cash discount. There are 2 (3) Bluegreen resorts in the Orlando area, several in Florida and many others. I am not sure how the Bonus time works for folks who purchase a "resale" you will have to find out the details on that as well as if the "Traveler's Plus membership" is transferable as well. Bluegreen pays your annual RCI membership, with that you will be able to deposit and exchange your Bluegreen weeks but also use RCI's "Extra Vacations" this is the REAL value of RCI!

As for owning 9000 points, you need to find out if that is annual points or every other year. Bluegreen point charts are available online I think. Another difference is that Bonus time or point time is only reservable with a 2 night minium.

I am sure that is enough for now!:hippie:

you use the points just like DVC points, to stay at other resorts inside the Bluegreen network.

Thanks everyone for the info... I had some Q's that my sister is looking into. I'll post more later.

Thanks again!

While I'm sure there are some DVCers that own Blue Green, Marriott, Hilton and other timeshares...this board of course deals primarily with DVC. You'd likely get far more responses on the Blue Green specific board mentioned above or over at TUG which is a multi timeshare owners group.

That sounds like a blended UDI (Undivided Interest) week. I know the person that is the king of UDI's and can give you his contact info if you want. That way you can be sure what it is and how it will work for you including fees. The points are actually the easy part as BG has not home resort priority and you can reserve any of their resorts up to 11 months out subject to availability.
