My DS (5) was invited to a pre-k classmate's birthday party. The party is for a 5 year old girl. I am looking for some inexpensive gift ideas. I was thinking of spending $10-$12. I am clueless what girls that age like? Thanks for your suggestions!

Barbie Dolls....Hair Accessories.....My Little Pony.....Littles Pet Shop Stuff

Good Luck!
I'm always on here posting the opposite question :rotfl:

My DD turns 5 this weekend!!!

Here requests were:
Barbie, My Little Ponies (big or mini), anything HSM.

FYI, our Toys R Us has a ton of My Little Pony stuff on clearance. I picked something up for $4.98...originally $20!!!!

Good Luck!!

I think a little girl whose 5 would LOVE a bunch of hair stuff. You could get headbands, elastics, barrettes, and put it in a cute little purse or a cute little box. You could even put in chapstick, especially the fun flavored ones. All that stuff could be found at the Dollar store so it's a cheap gift.

My daughter's favorite gift from her 5th birthday party in December?

Tub Tunes!

Amid all the typical Barbies and HSM crapola, these were what stood out as interesting and fun to her and she plays them EVERY night in the tub!

Walmart and Target both carry them by me. They're $9.99 at Target and $8.99 at Walmart.

I would stay away from Bratz dolls, as you never know how the parent feels about them. Me, personally, do not allow them for my dd. but her friends do. You just never know.

Georgia at 5 loved any thing Disney and Princess, she loves babies, Barbies, Books, dress up. You can find dress up at Walmart or Target for not much money. Even at five Georgia was still into Dora. Hannah Montana was just starting for her. Art stuff. Coloring books with fairies and crayons. Purses with little note books and pens in them were big hits.

I like to take $15 to the dollar tree get a basket fill it with a coloring book, crayons, a stuffy of some sorts, glow sticks or bracelet, something in the party section they have mini note books with Princess' on them. and maybe pompoms and one of those wash clothes that come alive in water. Its good on the cost, and it looks like LOTS of cool stuff for the kiddos. They love it. They have lots of styles of those wash clothes too! Princess' Mickey, HSM, Hannah Montana, Care bears you name it.

Girls are easy! Hair pieces, pretty color socks. Art, barbie, Animal pet *I think that's what it's called*

I have 3 girls, tons of barbies, and they were never into them (although I did find a couple dozen of them, naked, in what appeared to be an orgy at the top of my stairs (I don't think that's what the kids meant to do), and then DH lined them up in a row, sitting on a bookcase. :rotfl2:

They all liked/like Littlest Petshop a lot!

Here are some ideas:

* Build a Bear Gift card w/coupon
* books on cd

My daughter also received a great kit...make a princess story w/all sorts of stickers and craft stuff to make a story in a blank paged book...about $12 in the craft section at Target.

My daughter is 5 and she loves anything to do with arts and crafts. I saw the other day at Target in there dollar section beads to make bracelets with. She also likes to read. She has Barbie dolls, HSM dolls and Hannah Montana dolls but rarely plays with them. She does like the flavored chap stick and lip gloss. She likes to buy head bands but does not like to wear them. Go figure. Good luck with what you decide and I am sure whatever you choose your sons friend will be thrilled with it.

Her favorite presents were:

--My Little Ponies & Acessories (bike for pony, etc)
--Sleeping Beauty & Rapunzal Barbie
--A box with a purple boa and other girly stuff-bracelets, microphone, etc.
--and a Dora castle playset

:goodvibes

Our Target had "Career Barbies" for 10-12 right now. They're normally 15-20. Examples are Vet Barbie, Seaworld Barbie, etc.:dance3:

This is a really great suggestion! Something different. Were they in the toy section?

My DD loves Grovy girls, Make up and hair stuff and Webkinz. All of them are availible in that price range.

Webkinz are still popular in my house and with my 5 yr old niece. My DD (4) and niece both love peek-a-boo barbies, too.
