Okay, I have a couple patches that need to go on my DS Tae Kwon Do uniform. I used some heat sensitive adhesive on the last patch (put it on the back of the patch, put on uniform, & put in dryer to seal it on) but it is already pealing up along the edges. The two he has now are flags so I don't want to sew them on since it would be hard to match up the thread (not the most fond of sewing anyways :rolleyes1).

Have any of you come across something that actually works & keeps the patches on thru the wash machine?

Thanks for any help! :worship:

I would use invisible thread. It is clear thread that is a lot like fishing line. It won't really show and it will stay on.

If using a heat set adhesive, I would use an iron to set it instead of (or at least before) the dryer. In the dryer, it immediately starts to tumble, so it might come loose before it is set. If you use an iron, the pressure will help the patch adhere better.

I second the invisible thread. It is really the best long trem. A dry cleaners will do it for a small fee. I worked my way through college at a cleaners and we did them all the time.

I bring DS's karate and scout uniforms to a seamstress....lazy, I know, but I always put them on crooked. Sewing is the one thing that I aspire to be able to do that I just know will never happen.
