Have been looking at vans to convert with a wheelchair lift. DGD uses a wheelchair and life would be easier if I had a mechanical lift to take her out.

Is there a particular model I should consider and would a used vehicle be suitable (maybe 2002). :confused3

For the last 15 years we have used a regular caravan and a bifold ramp to get the DW in the side door, with the seat removed, and then used tiedown straps to tie her in. But she was also short enough that she didn't have to worry about hitting the roof.
But just this week we were fortunate enough to get a Entervan at a great deal.

We Have A 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport With Power Ramp. It Was Bought Used For My Mother Last Year. The Only Problem We've Had Has Been With The Plastic Tracking On The Power Door. It Is Our Second Car, So My Kids Are In And Out Of It. Toys Got Down Into The Track And Broke The Plastic Harness. The Door Still Opens But The Power Locks Don't. Other Than What I Mentioned, Absolutely No Problems. :)

Good Luck With Your Shopping.
We Bought Ours Through A Local Company That Works On Handicap Vans. A Lady Had Brought It In For Service And They Ended Up Selling It For Her. You Might Try That Route.

Congratulations.
We have a 2005 Entervan and I can't even imagine what it was like before we had a ramp van.

For the OP, it sounds like you want to add a lift to a conversion van. This is a link to the Braun company, which is one of the largest manufacturers of van lifts. I know people who have bought a used van and installed a lift into it. I also know people who bought a new van and had their old van lift installed into it.
Probably the best way to get the answers you need would be to contact a dealer. They can tell you which van models would work with which lifts and whether you could put a new lift into a used van.

I have had both side lift and rear lift vans and I wouldn't have another side lift. I love the rear lift now we don't have to worry about getting blocked in and not being able to get the lift down or have to find either a handicap parking space or 2 spaces together.
