Hello all

I am 18 weeks pregnant and have experienced some heavy bleeding over the weekend. I have a doctor's appointment today in a few hours. Anyone else been through this. I am really nervouse about bed rest as I have a toddler and have a really busy week at work.

Thanks for any advice.

Sorry can't help with the heavy bleeding part -- but I was on bedrest for both of my pregnancies. P1 only from week 30-week 36.5 (and baby came 1.5 days later!) P2 started around week 20 since docs were more careful this time. Needless to say it was awful and I had a 2.5 year old, and I had to go out on disability WAY before my due date (like 4 months). Had to hire a part time nanny to come watch my toddler while I was laying on the couch. Good luck!

I was placed on bed rest during my entire first trimester with my second son due to bleeding. Take the bed rest. It made a difference for me. Do you have any family that can come and help you with your toddler during the mornings and afternoon?

I had bleeding with my DS in the first trimester. Please stay in bed! I know how hard it was even without a toddler but I believe it gave me the time to correct the problem. I had placenta previa and it correct by my 7th month. My best friend had it as well and both of us had healthy babies.:grouphug: I know it is scary:hug:

I was on bed rest for all 3 of my pregnancies...I was only allowed up to the bathroom and shower every other day...and someone had to be with me at all times...I was at the dr at least 1x a week (sometimes 2) and it started out during the first trimester. I had gestational diabetes and was on 4 insulin needles a day and had a terbutaline (sp?) pump, and was bleeding on and off throughout the entirety. It sucked I won't lie and it was VERY inconvenient with a toddler running around and then an infant who needed my constant attention (My 2 youngest are only 10 mos apart so baby #2 was still a baby baby) but definately stick to it...all 3 of my kids were born prematurely and were huge and healthy!! DD12 was born at 35 weeks at 8lbs 3oz, DD10 at 33 weeks & 2 days at 6lbs 3 oz, and DS9 at 35.5 weeks at 7lbs 10.75oz!!!

Best of luck to you!!!

I was on bed rest with both kids. The 2nd time we made plans (although we didn't need them) for DS to go live with my parents in another state & he would have been put in daycare there. Thankfully my mom finished up the school year before I went on bedrest but I was glad we had discussed all the options.
Also, AFA work, I can't help you with the busy week but you may be elgible for short-term disability if you need to go on bedrest.

I never had to be put on bedrest but just wanted to say good luck and hang in there! I did have pre-term labor with my 2nd one at 7 months. I had to quit working and stay home and take it easy and take meds when I started having contractions. It wasn't easy with a 3 year old running around but my mom did come over a lot to help. I was lucky that I didn't actually have to stay in bed.

Sending  your way!

I was on bedrest with my daughter. I was in the hosptial for 10 weeks. Only able to go to the bathroom and shower (with supervision). My DS was 5 at the time and did really well. My mom is retired and took care of him everyday while DH worked. She was my savior. I have to say that it was a long 10 weeks but it was one of the best experiences of my life. It make me see how strong my faith was, who my good friends are and how much my family loves me. It made me a better more thankful person. I am a better healthcare provider too! I know what it is like to be in the hospital! Good luck and God bless you!
