OT Average cost of an inground swimming pool

Wow! Ours complete was 22,900 and we received the safety cover; the light- it's actually code here- so they can't charge extra for it. And we have the extra large step. The heater was free- as the filter type has it attached. We also put the pool in in Oct- maybe going the end of the season route would be a huge $$$ saver- I think I remember we received a "deal" LOL. I wish we woould have spent extra $$$ for more concrete as we only got the regular amount- but @ that point our budget was pretty tight- I was 2 months away from my youngest son's birth and our very 1st trip to WDW was also at the same time! So that was Oct 2004. Good luck! We truly love our pool- it really is a vacation destination for my kids and my DD 15- her friends are always here! I am glad of that!

The pool itself is not the big ticket item. Ours was around 23K but it was all the extras, tree clearing, land grading, rock walls, electric, gas line installation, pavers, fence, landscaping etc. We have aprroxiamtely 70k invested so far and we are not done. Nothing like walking out your back deck door for a dip though !

I also recommend a salt system. My aunt and uncle have one for their pool. She said to open it this year cost them $30 and the pool is HUGE.

It's so nice to not smell like chlorine and our suits don't ruin as easy.

Geez prices vary around the country. My neighbor just had a 16x32 saltwater pool with one waterfall put in. Pool, concrete, vinyl fence and labor was around $17,500.

A lot more than it used to--in FL anyway. We put in a gunite pool in 2002 16x33 with screen for $25,000. In 2006 we put in a pool 20x35 with screen for $70,000. We have no spa, no pavers(just cool decking) solar heat, salt system, 6' deep end, raised decking in the back, child fence and 3 sheer decent water falls. The screening alone was like $15,000.

Wow. I had no idea inground pools were so expensive. Here in Maine, you really only get 2 months use out of an outdoor pool. Most pools you see up here are above ground. Any time I say I want a pool, my husband reminds me of the lake 2 miles down the road. :) He's game for a hot tub, though, as soon as we have a home big enough!

yup. now you know why most pools in fl look like large bath tubs lol. I wouldn't spend the money for an inground pool up north. Most HOA will not allow above ground or even fiberglass pools here. The screening is a big cost also but, with the bugs you really have to have it IMO. It also makes the whole pool area an exstention of your house. DH is looking at a job in CT and I am like "no way am I moving back up there and giving up my pool!" If I did cave and agree to move I would get an above ground for sure.

I just had to say, what a beautiful pool!

We live in NH and it just was not worth it for us to install an inground pool so we have a 13x21 rectangular Splash Super Pool that we built a deck around and we keep it up year round. Of course, we don't swim in it during the cold months! LOL I don't know about other states, but in NH, they slam you with more property taxes here if you have an in ground pool. Our property taxes are high enough....
