I was at a memorial service in St Catharines, ON yesterday and the church had a flag I've never seen before? I was wondering what flag it was? It was white with a red cross on it. In each corner there was a green maple leaf. In the centre of the cross there was a blue coat of arms with what looked like a Bishop's Hook on it. Can anyone identify this for me? It's been bugging me! :scratchin

Thanks!

There was a program on CBC radio over christmas and there was a bishop who is said to be canada's expert on flags and in the interview he said that he had desined many flags/coatsof arms including on for the position he had as the bishop of ??? cant rember any more about it though hope this helps some

The Bishop you are talking about is Bishop Ralph Spence. He designs many flags but that one sounds similar to the ST. George's cross. We have one flying outside of our church but I'm not sure it has the coat of arms in the middle. That flag is usually associated with the Church of England(Anglican in Canada) There is also the St. Andrew's cross(church of Scotland) which is usually Presbyterian in Canada. Not sure this really solved anything but hope it helps.

He is the Anglican bishop of the Niagara area. Sorry, forgot to mention that.

You are probably right ... The church was in St Catharines, which I believe is in the Niagara region, plus, it was St. Georges Anglican Chuch. So I think my mystery may be solved. Thank you for your help!
