I can't stand watching this show but my kids love it. I agree with another poster though that its a nice low key show as compared to a lot of other stuff on TV. There's nothing really "bad" about it & it makes my kids laugh no matter how many times they see the same episode.
On the other hand, my DD5 just discovered Toon Disney and I have to say I hate that station. The shows are the worst. They teach kids absolutely nothing!!
One more question- where do the parents think the kids disappear to for hours at a time on Dragontales? Wouldn't they be calling the police??
I've wondered about the parents on this show and if there was a dad on Toy Story too.
How about calling CPS on the parents in Peter Pan? They left their kids with Nana while they went out partying and they were kidnapped!
The Max & Ruby episodes that I hate usually involve bugs/worms. Yuck! But, the one that drove me crazy was when he kept getting in the bathtub with sherbet! I think the show is relatively harmless though.
My kids used to watch the same shows over and over. My oldest knows how to work the DVR (tivo) and would watch the same things over and over. Now, we are stricter about watching stuff over and over and taping stuff and watching too much tv. It's helped A LOT!!
They don't just like preschool shows and kiddy shows though. They are big fans of HSM and HM. DH won't let them watch Camp Rock b/c he's afraid it will start another obsession in the house! The poor guy can't take it anymore.
Edited to add: Maybe if the mom and dad were around more, Max would be able to talk in complete sentences! lol
We've been doing the disney movie night thing in anticipation of our trip. When we watched Peter Pan my 9 & 4 yo were very disturbed by this. My DH and I kept (jokingly) acting like it was no big deal-- "The dog is home with the kids", "They're just going down the street" "The kids are asleep anyway"-- and our kids kept arguing about how wrong it was.
I have thought the same thing, wouldn't the parents on Dragon Tales go to there room and see they are missing and wonder where they are.....
The No Parents thing on Max and Ruby has also puzzled me for some time now
Some of my other questions would be....why does the monkey "Boots" on Dora even wear boots?, on Blues Clues...blue is actualy a GIRL-my son still fights with me about this and says he is not a girl
I'm not alone!!! I drive myself crazy thinking about these things. I can tolerate Max and Ruby though. Caillu (however you spell his name)--I WANT TO STRANGLE THAT BRATTY KID!!! And what's up with his tiny eyes. Very strange!!
Funny that I ran across this thread. I've just read all the posts! I never really watch the shows I have on for the kids because that is why I put them on...to get away! Just a couple of days ago I noticed (as I walked by)on Max and Ruby that Ruby answered the door when the doorbell rang. I about stroked out! We have doorknobs that my little ones can't open, but they did unlock the deadbolt the other day. I was glad the UPS guy didn't walk on in! This has become the show my 3 year old always asks for. Now I think it will be deleted from the Tivo! Of course, Tom and Jerry is the other favorite and that is horribly violent. Thankfully, we don't have a cat (or mouse) so I don't worry too much!
i can't stand Max and Ruby. My very intelligent, fully functional 5 year old watches that show and then starts barking one word demands at me. So max gets limited time in our house![/QUOTE]
I started limiting Max and Ruby for this same reason. It drives me bonkers! I had actually bought my DDa DVD of Max and Ruby and have since hidden it away! Ugh! We love Calliou (we have many discussion as to why some of the behavior would not be acceptable) but my DH asked the other day...why is he bald? Is he sick?? It makes you wonder. Is he ever going to have hair?
I do have to say our new love is Super WHY (I think that's what it's called). It's awesome!!!! I wish it was on more often or I'm going to have to get a DVR.

My girls enjoy Signing Time. I think that's what it's called. They think it's neat to learn sign language. I actually sit down and try to learn some signs sometimes too. It's a cute show if you don't mind singing and lots of real little kids in the show.
I think Max & Ruby was designed to make parents nuts! It's so irritating! DH and I have long conversations about the no parents thing and just how bossy Ruby is (just like me, lol!). I so want to strangle her! So glad DS isn't old enough to know that the show is on a regular time each day!
I cannot stand the show, but I TOTALLY agree with you on the second point. Max seems like a typical 2-year-old (I have NO idea how old he's supposed to be, but 2 seems about right). But even my DD6 agrees that Ruby is just mean to him, lol!
