I love my DIS boards and wanted to get opinions on any health boards any of you are part of?

My DD10 has been extremely fatigued with headaches, dizziness, flushing, etc., so we had her blood taken this week, and it showed low blood sugar. We did it again today before and after eating and her fasting glucose level was 74 and one hour after eating it was 77, so her doctor thinks it could be hypoglycemia.

I've been researching, and most people with it have it as a complication of diabetes so I want to get on a board to post and read other posts to see what's going on.

Thanks for any info.

there is a board called parent 2 parent (or something like that). Haven't been on for ages, but that may be a good start. Lots of supportive parents of kids with all kinds of chronic health issues, that will steer you in the right direction. Good luck!

You might want to also post this in the Disney for Families section of the Disboards too. I've read lots of stuff on there about children with different things, medical and otherwise, going on in their lives and how their family and others cope and deal with it. You may find valuable information and people going through the same thing on that board too.

On a side note, I've had hypoglycemia my entire life and it's never led to diabetes. Hope that makes you feel better. I've just learned what to eat and when and it's very controllable. :thumbsup2

P.S. Ironically, my little chihuahua had two severe hypoglycemic episodes in her life (because of her size) and we know how to handle it for her too. How funny that I ended up with a dog with the same thing...life is strange indeed.

Thanks, that does make me feel better! Can I ask you one question? Why wouldn't her glucose change much (from 74 to 77) after eating? It's like the food didn't do anything to her system. ?

Thanks, I will check out those boards you all told me. :goodvibes

Good luck with finding ways to deal with your DD's condition! A helpful board for you here on the DIS would be DISabilities:
