Going to WDW will be a nice way to celebrate the new Pres's term.
It was a moving and inspiring ceremony! Congratulations to the new administration of the U.S.A. :happytv:

NBC has been on since early this morning in the house. DD 10 has PVR'd the whole day so we can watch it when she arrives home from school.

Yes, I watched it. very moving and loved his speech:mic: . did not care for the poet (I couldn't keep what she was saying staright:crazy2: ) Music was good. The prayers were weird..........
DD (13) school has set up a couple of rroms for them to watch it. I was talking to the Vice this morning and she was arranging it all. She felt this was a hiatorical moment and that the kids should see it.
I agree.

The prayers were more like inspirational speeches than anything else (although I liked the last old guy a lot).

The poet was very articulate but not what I would expect. I did not appreciate it either. Just had no idea where she was going with it.

Fatigue blamed for Kennedy's seizure during inauguration luncheon
Last Updated: Tuesday, January 20, 2009 | 6:07 PM
CBC News
Exhaustion was the reason veteran U.S. Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy suffered a seizure Tuesday during an inauguration luncheon, doctors said.

Kennedy, who is battling a brain tumor, was immediately taken to hospital. A spokesman at Washington Hospital Centre said the 76-year-old was awake and able to answer questions after arriving

We had it on the big screen in our common area at work. At any given time there was quite a group gathered.

Lucky for me my lunch is always around 12pm. So I got to see the swearing in and everything after.

Did anyone else wonder about the amount of money that they spent on the whole thing? Especially since the US is in mega debt.

It was inspiring to watch and listen to his speech.

I believe that he is going to try to the best of his ability to fix what’s broken and change or improve upon what already exists.

For me, he seems to base some of his politics on morals rather than religion, if that makes any sense, which I like.

I trust him but let’s face it, he has a rough road ahead. Let’s give him a chance.

I watched and am so glad this day has come...it seemed like a long wait since the election! I'd like to see more basking in the glory and believing that things will change (with hard work, of course) instead of some of the naysaying and negativity that I've heard. He's up to the challenge and has great people on his team. I hope those same people who supported Bush wholeheartedly because he was president will do the same because Obama now is. I'll be watching closely - in fact, I'm watching the inaugural bash on the telly right now...I love that they've opted for a public ball. Very neat to see people of all ages dancing and singing together.

Yes - it was quite the spectacle! I really admire Obama's grounded nature. For instance, when he was preparing to take the oath a staffer placed a step stool on the ground and he joked to Michelle something along the lines of "I thought it was for you!" It's just silly things like this that make him personable and truly the people's president.

I should have been working but I was watching at home.....LOL.....that's okay I work from home and dh is my boss:lmao: But don't tell him!
I think it was a very inspirational speech he made I just hope he does well for the American people

I got to see a little. It was great to watch.

I heard on the news that it cost $150 million for the day. I think that's ridiculous.

I watched the whole thing at work. It was simply amazing. So happy for President Obama, and for people all over the world. He has just proven that Anything Is Possible! He is the best speaker I have ever heard, and I hope that he can make some changes to his country, and to the world. He has a huge job ahead of him, and I wish him nothig but luck and good thoughts.

On another note, I am terribly sick of listening to "obama haters" find issues and problems with everything. They won't even give this man a chance to "fix" his country. That to me is still sad, because I can't help but question if there are underlying race issues.

Re the cost, yes its over the top, but most, if not all, were from private donations. It is a day that will be remembered forever, and I do think that it should have gotten the "party" that it deserved!

My ds12 just asked at supper tonight "and what did pres Obama do today?" as if he were a member of the extended family ...
can you imagine that? A cdn boy thinking about what the pres of the u.s. did on his first day.

I juggled all my clients around to have most of the day at home to watch, and kept my son home from school to watch! It was a wonderful day! :cool1:

And yes...he is hot! ;)
