OT -- American Girl information

Hi everyone, I know there have been tons of posts about AG in the past, and honestly, I never paid much attention to them. Now, however, my dd (just turned 8) wants one for the holidays. I've tried looking through old posts, and that just seems like too much. What I'm wondering is this...... Is there a forum or message board (kind of like the DIS) for AG? It seems like they could become highly addictive; and if we're going to start searching for them, I want to make sure we know what we are doing.

I haven't heard of one but your right we are trying to curb the addiction. My dd has a bitty baby, 2 sets of bitty twins, Nelly, Elizbeth, a choose your own doll, and two dolls of the years I am blanking on the names right now. Marisola and Jessie thats it she has been wanting a couple of others but it drives dh crazy. We went to ag store in chicago a couple of times and she did the clothes a lot more when she was younger. Very nice christmas presents. She loves the books.

Thanks for your response AND confirmation about this addiction. I did end up buying my dd a Just Like You doll and a little outfit to go with it from AG. With the free shipping, it really was the best deal I could find for the doll she wanted.

Looking on ebay though was just overwhelming. People were listing some dolls as pre-mattel or Gotz or whatever, and that was when I realized that I have no idea what I was looking at. There were American Girl Today and Hopscotch dolls and lots of other things. Also, if my dd really does enjoy her doll, I'll want to get more, and I'll start looking for deals. That was why I was looking for a message board, so I can educate myself on them.
