uuugh! I am looking at airfare so I can fly from BC to Ontario to meet up with my hubby this June... For the cost of my flight alone to/from Ontario on a seat sale both of us could fly return Seattle-Orlando :scared1::headache::headache::headache::mad:

From Air Canada's webSaver link:

Total charge for 1 adult
Departing Flight (Tango)
199.00
Returning Flight (Tango)
199.00
Options 0.00
Taxes, fees, charges and surcharges 120.00
Grand Total - Canadian dollars $518.00

Fly on Tues, Wed, or Sat for this price. I don't think it's "too bad" a price.

Have you considered flying from Seatle to Buffalo? Not too far a drive at either end. My 2 cents worth. Good luck.:)

As I said... for 500 and change both of us could fly to WDW.

I am not going to drive south, go through customs to pay for parking fly and go through customs only to go through customs again, drive go through customs lol

Really? I think that's pretty good...given that my car can cost $70 to fill I am often surprised that air travel is as reasonable as it is. Do you really want them to deep discount it? With the cost of aviation fuel..they are cutting the costs somewhere when they do trust me!

I know we all want to get as good a deal as we can on large ticket items like airfare but we have to be careful with our expectations, too.

Consider this. In the mid '80s I traveled on the Edmonton-Toronto run, making 3-4 trips a month. Knew many of the cabin and flight crews by their first names. Know what a round trip cost then? About $350 pp.

In 1986 I bought a pretty high end sports car for about 30 grand. Today that car costs over 100 grand, it tripled in price. And the airfare? Well you can still get that same price on seat sales, otherwise it's barely doubled. I honestly don't know how the airlines survive, charging what they do.

I have a background in the aviation industry and like minnie56 said you don't want to even imagine what deep cost cutting does to an aircraft.

I once saw the numbers for a Delta flight from JFK to LAX. The plane was full and had a good amount of revenue generating cargo, too. It made the airline a whopping $50 after all expenses.:confused3

Sorry if I rambled on too much, and yes, I still want a really low fare for my next trip to Orlando, just like everyone else!;)

I think many of us don't realize that a lot of airlines are on 'life support'.
Especially U.S carriers that get into the real fare slashing...I'm sorry. I would rather pay a little more and know that the aircraft I or my loved ones are flying on are maintained as they should be and that isn't where they are cutting corners!!

Yes, I like a great deal also..but I am prepared to pay a fair price to keep an airline safe and viable.

I have a friend who is an airline mechanic.....what minnie56 says is so true, the stories he tells us would make you shutter:eek:

Yup:scared1:

I have a friend who is an Air Canada Captain.Captain's talk and they are privy to a lot of industry information the rest of us aren't...he has some scary tales of maintenance..NOT within AC. They have top rated mechanics and spare no costs where their aircraft are involved. I used to work for Wardair and we had top notch guys..many remain with AC to this day.

Not to say all Airlines other than them are inferior...but many are sadly, especially Stateside. We have many more regulations as far as maintenance than they abide by. Like playing Russion Roulette.:confused3
