Found out I had this last year when they did an MRI for a kidney stone. At the time it was about a 4. I have an recheck in a couple of weeks. They said if it changed any where above a 6, surgery would be done. Has anyone had this and had it repaired? Getting nervous? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Abdominal aortic aneurysms are almost always found incidentally through tests looking for other things. Very common, and a lot of people have them with no change. You will, however, need to keep checking it on a regular basis to see if there is an increase. Consider yourself lucky you found it. They almost never have symptoms until it is too late.

Good luck -- I don't have any experience with this but just found I have a lesion on my right kidney via an abdominal ultrasound for something else.

I have an MRI scheduled soon to see what's what, but am thankful they can find and fix things like this, even if by accident!

Yes, my fil had the surgery done about 10 years ago. It was a pretty long surgery as I remember (10 years ago). I do remember that he had to have help at home afterwards, for a few days. He couldn't drive for about 4 weeks(?) But what I do know is how great he felt after the surgery. He had been complaining of feeling tired and sluggish....it turned out his had a very slow leak, which was causing a loss of blood. He recovered very well and did remarkably well!
I know it's scary, but with a good surgeon, good anesthesia, good hospital....you'll do great!
Good Luck to you
I should also say my husband also has had this diagnosis....however, no surgery as of yet!
