Remember that huge childrens medicine recall earlier this year? Well here is the budget part of it, if you have any they will send you a check for the replacement for or a replacement when available.

But here is my issue I never paid attention to this recall until tonight when my DD has a temp of 102 degrees. Now I look in my cabinet and see I have a bottle of Childrens Motrin that is on the recall list :headache: so I can't use that of course. Now I also have a bottle of Safeway brand infants' Drops Concentrated Asprin Free Suspension Drops Aceteminophen. Now I can't find anything online about them being recalled but can someone verify that the off brands were not included in the HUGE Mcneil medicine recall for me, please?

As far as I know, generics were NOT included in the recall, and I kept using them (and purchasing them). Hope your DD feels better soon!

Thank you so much for your help and well wishes. Glad to hear that you kept purchasing them too. I knew the name brands were cleared from the shelves but I couldnt remember if the off brands were stil available or not so that puts me at ease.

It didn't affect the generic brands. DS5 spiked a fever right after the recall and I went looking for children's asprin. The pharmacist told me to go with the store brand, it wasn't on the recall lists and the shelves were empty of everything that had been recalled.

I was working in a Childrens ER during the recall and the entire hospital trashed our stock of brand name Tylenol/Motrin and restocked with generic!:thumbsup2

While you figure out if the drugs are tainted or not, a LOVELY way lower a fever is a tepid bath. If this is a baby and you don't want to get into the bath with her, then hold the baby and wipe a cool washcloth on her skin. This will slowly and more naturally reduce the fever. And this way you will know when it goes back up again (I highly recommend co-sleeping, or at least being in touching distance, when children are sick and you're afraid of their fevers) or if it doesn't go back up. Better way to really gauge just how sick the child is.

Of course...fevers are the body's way of doing work! 102, compared to the fevers my son and I "like" to run, is nothin'. When DS was little and he got sick enough to have a solid fever, if I left it alone, I always noticed developmental and/or language leaps a few days later. It was pretty cool, once I started noticing the connection!
