If you have any of the following crib numbers please stop using it....I have one!!

Consumer Product Safety Commission says wooden slats and spindles on certain models of Jardine cribs (example shown) can break and trap children in the gaps.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Government safety advocates announced Tuesday a recall of about 320,000 Jardine cribs, after four children became trapped.

The wooden slats and spindles on the crib's frames can break. Children can get trapped in the remaining gap. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is aware of at least 42 incidents of broken slats and spindles, and four instances of children getting trapped. Two children suffered cuts and bruises.

The recalled cribs were manufactured in Taiwan by Jardine Enterprises and sold by KidsWorld stores, Geoffrey stores, Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us. They were available nationwide between January 2002 and May 2008.

The crib body models are Berkley, Hilton, Positano, Spindle and Windsor, which came in a variety of finishes. The following model numbers are affected by the recall:

CPSC is urging owners to immediately stop using the recalled cribs and contact Jardine for credit toward a new crib. Jardine can be reached at (800) 646-4106. Customers are also being urged to visit the company's recall Web site: www.jardinecribrecall.com.

Do you by chance have a picture of the crib? I have no idea what make our crib is, but I do know we bought it in 2005. Our has pretty thick slats and I can't imagine them breaking, but I just want to make sure!!! TIA!!

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but I think we are safe. I'll take a look in the morning (DS is sleeping in it right now) and see if I can find a brand name on it just to be sure! Thanks sooo much for the heads up!

Anyone with children, heck, anyone who buys products of any kind, needs to get subscribed to cpsc.

We have a family bed and therefore do not own a crib, but we have been part of two different recalls found out about through the list. See Kai Run boots a couple years ago (snap could come off, choking hazard) and a wooden toy that we actually had the problem with, but thought it was just b/c DS was a brute.

All should join..... https://www.cpsc.gov/cpsclist.aspx Joining the list was some of the best advice I got before DS arrived!

If you have any of the affected cribs, you can fiil out a form on line or call. If you call be ready for a long wait, you need to have the model code and date.
You will be sent out a claim pack in one to two weeks and once you fill this out and send it back you will get a coupon for babies r us.
The only problem with this is where is your baby ment to sleep in the mean time??? as you could be looking at six weeks to get your coupon towards your new crib!!!!!!

For the people that don't know their models...did you keep the directions by any chance? We kept ours for when we needed to turn it into a toddler bed and a full bed. That will have the name and model of the crib on it. I know most of you probably thought of that, but just in case...

If you look on the crib itself the model number and date will be on the stickers, mine on the right hand side, the date on the warning sticker and the model number on the company one.

Babies r us are great, :thumbsup2 you can go a buy a new crib and when your coupon arrives they will credit you back however you paid for it.

I have two of these cribs. I actually pulled my sons mattress out and found the model number was not located on the headboard or the foot board, but on one of the side panels. So for those of you that have converted the bed already, try checking the side panels....if you kept them. The model number is there, but no date code. Can someone post what the date code should look like? I found a sticker code with PB 05 04 QV 19. Its a small sticker in a completely different spot. Im just wondering if this is the date code they are referring to.

My date code was written: 06 2006, so I don't think that you have the right codes.

Thanks. I just double checked my warning code and both the model number and the date may 2004 was on that code.
