Steve

I stayed in Bogalusa, La in March. :) I would have gotten you something, Jason, had I known it was important to you.

Will you be near Deb in IA.:) She might can tell you some good things to see.:) Are you going for a cooking contest?:)

really Jtb, that would have been great, when I was a kid my favorite baseball player was from there, Charlie Spikes, and I liked him so much I namened my dog Boogalusa

You liked baseball at one time, Jason?:p Good story on Booga's name.:) Where did you get Poo Poo's name?;)

Can't help ya on that one mate!! I've never heard of it , much less have any idea where in the world it is........but make sure you have a good time anyway:Pinkbounc :bounce:  :teeth:

We have friends in Osky, but I don't know much about the area.

Oh, Deb....... where are you??????

I am sure she will have more info for you. :D

Hey Jason, Thanks for all that help:rolleyes: Iowa is nowhere near Louisiana (I think)

Anyway DS is playing football there on Sat so we will be on the road early. Hope someone comes up with something to do other than watch corn and bean fields:eek:

Steve

Steve, Louisiana is near Iowa if you take a left at Albequeque.;)

Hey! What praytell is wrong with watching corn and bean fields? besides the obvious;)

I tried to do a search on google and the only points of interest I saw were: Lake Keomah State Park, Mahaska County Hospital and Oskaloosa Municipal Airport. Here's a link about lodging though.

Good luck to your ds in his footyball game.:p

oh, fireplug! Oskaloosa is a really small town. I'm afraid football and harvesting will be the highlights. SORRY!
Des Moines, on the other hand will have many things to see and do.

i used to live in des moines...but that was a good 15 years ago!! there is a kind of cool little area out there called living history farms, if you have time...you walk through settlements throughout history, etc...it can be fun. but other than that...the only other thing i could even remember about what to do in des moines is southridge mall! but unless you're a 15 year old girl...you might not find that much fun anymore :)

have a good trip!!

Did someone call my name??? ;) ;)

fireplug, I have never actually been to Oskaloosa, but I understand it is a nice place -- typical small Midwestern town atmosphere.

Here is the official website:
http://www.oskaloosaiowa.org/

And here is the website for the local newspaper the Oskaloosa Herald:
http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?brd=1623

(it looks like you will be able to go to their Fall Festival)

And if you need lodging info, check here:

Oskaloosa is about 100 miles (or about 2 hours' drive) from us. Unfortunately, our day tomorrow will be pretty jam-packed: piano lessons, soccer match, etc., so I won't be able to get down there. But have a great time!!

Thanks Deb:)
The Herald even had an article about the game:bounce: :bounce:
