Osborne Lights

Downtown Disney Marketplace

It's free to the public, it's could benefit from the foot traffic the display would generate, and there could be hidden ROI's (more foot traffic = more potential customers).

Sunset Bvld

While not the most ideal from a foot traffic standpoint (with Fantasmic running simultaneously) it would make a nice setting...

Blizzard Beach

This could be the most wild of all, but why not make an addition to Blizzard Beach of a neighborhood buried from the freak snowstorm....that way it fits in during the non holiday season, but during Christmas time, you can modify the lane for the Light Spectacular.

Not bad ideas but,

DTD at Christmas time is already a packed out nitemare. Adding thousand people who just want to look at free lites would only add to that problem.

BB is always closed this time of the year for rehab.

Sunset BLVD; Maybe your onto something there. Could lead to other things. But I don't think it could be ready by Thanksgiving.

Doesn't have to be.

I guess we'll agree to disagree about how much lead time is needed to move the lights if need be. I really DOUBT it takes 5 months to do....heck I wonder if Mr. Osbourne took 5 months off from work to string his lights....

...lets see what park is having attendance problems....what park has a lot of building faces to display lights....It's right on the tip of my tongue.

Yes Europa, you're right- what park has tons and tons of room for displays like the Flower and Garden Festival and the Millenium Celebration, so that setting up some huge light display wouldn't be that much of a problem? Hmm, can't remember the name of it, think it might begin with an E....LOL

Looking at the terraserver map at:

I wish they would relocate residential street in the NW corner of the property where the big circle of forest is located, then provide access to it from Rock and Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror.
Moving residential street would be a lot easier and practical than storing or destroying it. It could probably be still included in the tram tour (making it longer, more worthwhile).

Although I hate to admit it, the logic to remove it makes some sense, since this area of the park needs an attraction to draw people to that part of the park, especially since Hunchback was shut down.

Furthermore, moving residential street to the NW corner of the park would allow them to close off the SW side of the park after closing, which they left open to allow Fantasmic viewers to see the lights a good hour after closing. And even better, after viewing Fantasmic, it would then be a short walk to see the lights instead of crossing the entire diagonal length of the park to see them.

Unfortunately I got a call from WDW yesterday in response to my email to them about the Osborne Lights and they said that this was not going to be part of the holidays at Disney Studios this year. :( Mickey

All I can say is Pathetic.

There's no excuse for it and I would love to hear someone prove to me that stringing Christmas lights (albeit a lot of them) can't be done in 6 months....

:D I'm not posting to argue, but a friend just got back and he said that residential street is walled off and they are tearing it down! {how sad, I kinda liked that area} And they have re-routed the tram ride. The only info he could get was that it did not look promising for the osborne lights this year anywhere on property. But I guess that can always change. Disney does have a tendencey to do that as we all know.

Local 6 news just stated the Osborne lights will not be at MGM this year, but they will place them elsewhere on property.

I Post this some where I will tell all again I got a call from
Disney World and it's true this year there will be no Osborne
lights. But there will be something special that there going
to do at DisneyMGM he would not say so I geust I will have
to go and see.

:(

Just received our mickey monitor and I guess this makes it official:"The transformation taking place at Disney MGM studios is set to be finished in 2005. That's when we'll debut an action packed new stunt spectacular. Please note that in order to bring you this new e ticket attraction,The Osbourne family Spectacle of Lights will not take place this year." :(
