Just decided to take a girls only trip in December. This is our first time going around the holidays. Does anyone know what time the lights go on if MGM closes at 7:00? Fanstasmic is at 7:00, so what time does everyone have to leave the park? Thanks!!

Last time i was there for them was almost 10 years ago, but if I remember right they turned them on around 5, I want to say? I think it goes more by "dusk" than "X time", because I vaguely remember the park times saying one thing and they came on about 15 minutes early, and it was a very cloudy day. I could be wrong or they may have changed it, though.

I seem to remember them going on around 6 last year.

If you go to Fantasmic at 7, you can go to the lights afterward. That's the way we did it.

Yes. They have CMs pointing the way to the lights to the crowd as they leave Fantasmic!

The rest of the park will be closed, but the area of the lights will remain open and there are limited snacks & drinks available for sale.

WDW is a remarkable place.

There aren't any rides open so it goes fairly quickly when looking at the lights. I figure the CM's are politely pushing people to exit after a reasonable amount of time though.

It's been a six o'clock start for the last few years. They're not really effective until dark, which starts just about 6.

What if you have the Fantasmic dining package and are exiting from the reserved seating end of the ampitheater closest to the exits? Should we NOT exit that way but instead head out the main exits with the rest of the "normal" crowd if we want to see the Osborne lights?

This is our first trip to MGM at Christmas, and I very much want to see the lights - I'm a Christman light nut in the tradition of Tim Taylor or Clark Griswald. :teeth: :santa: :rainbow:

As you suggest, it will be easier to go there with the main crowd (rather than trying to "swim upstream" fighting the crowd near the front gates).

But going either way will work.

I think that even the "dinner pkg. crowd" will be shunted back toward the lower-level "main exit" when leaving... and you can CHOOSE to go that direction even as you near that "backstage" door.
