Expensive. Hard to fit. Temporary solution to a permanent problem. Traumatizes the cornea on a nightly basis. Used mostly to slow down the progression of myopia in cases where the patient is anticipated to become a high negative. Need to find an eye care professional experienced in fitting these lenses since it is not commonly prescribed in routine practice. Not covered under most insurance plans.
Is there a reason why regular contact lenses are not an option (such as work conditions that prohibit their use)?
I was afraid to have Lasix too but took the leap in 2011 and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner! I was so scared but now so glad I did it. I had a very strong prescription (could only see about 6" from my face without glasses or contacts) and every type of contacts dried my eyes out. I could not believe the results after.
Can I just say that LASIK was the best thing I've ever done! It's been 9 years now, no problems, still see 20/20. I can't believe all the years I wasted fighting with my contacts and hating how I looked in glasses. My boys are in contacts and glasses now -- I will give this to them as a gift when they are old enough.
I got LASIK done waaaay back in the beginning stages. I actually went to Canada because they were doing it more frequently before the US was. I got it done 14 years ago. I was almost legally blind.. Back to 20/20. The most amazing experience ever. I can't recommend it enough.
