Hi everyone,

I know this board is for DLP but I remember some or most of you have been to WDW. We went to DLP twice last year and had a fab time and now we're planning our next trip to WDW. Ideally we'll be going mid-december and stay there for Xmas. So, I need your help before my head explodes with excitement and confusion:rotfl2:

Ok...

1. Which hotels would you suggest staing in? We cant drive so it'll have to be a hotel closer to the Magic Kingdom as we've got 2 little ones (5 and the baby will be just 1) so princesses are A-MUST :rotfl:
I looked at the Royal Plaza Hotel, looks nice but have no idea how far from the park it is...

2. How long is the approximate journey from A to B (Magic Kingdom to Water Parks)?

3. Do they provide cots for babies?

4. What is the weather like in December (probably warmer than London:) )

I'm sure I'll have a lot more to ask so feel free to write all you can...

Many Thanks,
Ema

and many more...

Ema, what wonderful news! :yay:

I'm just moving this over to the UK Trip Planning board where you'll get loads of helpful advice. :goodvibes

Hi Ema, welcome to the UK trip planning board :)

As far as where to stay, there are many, many options. If you can't drive, you really only have 2 options:

Either an on-site hotel at WDW

or

An off-site hotel with a transport service to Disney.

Do you have a budget in mind? Maybe one of the value resorts (Pop Century, All Star Movies, Music or Sports) would be good for you.

Disney World is quite widely spread out but they have a pretty good transportation system - it's just a case of knowing where to get the bus from to go where you want to go.

As far as I am aware, hotels can provide cribs for babies so that shouldn't be a problem.

As for the weather in December, we've never been but from what I've read, it can still get quite cold there. Maybe not as bad as London though :rotfl:

It might be a good thing for you to get hold of a few brochures and start looking at the various accommodations available before you decide which would suit you and your family best. Then, when you have narrowed it down, by all means come back here and ask for some opinions. There is bound to be somebody who will have stayed there before.

Happy planning :)

Wow Lucky you.

:cheer2: :cheer2:

We spent 2 Christmases at WDW several years ago. (DSs were approx 3,6,8) at time. It was wonderful.

Weather was hot most of time (Spent all time wearing shorts and T shirts.) but remember it cooling in a bit in the evenings. So I would recommend taking a few jumpers as well as clothing for warmer weather.

We stayed off site those times in a Days Inn hotel but as we hired a car cant remember if there was a shuttle bus.

We have also visited twice in Summer and stayed at All Stars resort. Loved this and felt it was a much better option. We got tickets for length of stay which meant we could go into parks for few hours and then to water parks or hotel pools etc as opposed to feeling we had to spend all day there when had 5 day passes.
Also got into parks earlier which meant a head start on the crowds.

There is quite a distance between parks,on site hotels, waterparks etc but all are served by free shuttle service.

Hi Ema

If you can afford to, try and stay 'on site'. When the children are as young as yours, there is nothing like being 'part of the magic'!

I remember my DS (think he was about 3 on that trip), meeting Pooh for the first time in Crystal Palace... he was absolutely in awe.. it was a magical moment!! Disney is such a great place for families and especially young children!

I know you can get bigger and better rooms 'off site' but the advantages of staying 'on site' include:
Disney transportation from MCO.
Free transportation around all the Disney parks, including DTD and the water parks (such an advantage if you aren't driving- and if you intend to 'do' Disney 24/7)
Early entry into the parks.. worth its weight in gold, IMHO!!
Shopping returned to your room

If you can't afford to stay 'on site', I would tend to go for a hotel in LBV area. The Courtyard by Marriott is within walking distance to DTD, so you could still benefit from the free transportation system etc..
Anyway, hope this helps!
Tracy
