( i looked at the history, btu the topics on this are all old and no longer valid)

Just booked our stay for AoA - Finding Nemo for Aug 25-Sept 2! woot!!
Now the issue is we have a cruise (non Disney) booked for the 20th to the 25th as well out of Miami.

There are 4 of us travelling, flying into and out of MCO ...

Whats the best/cheapest way to get to Miami -- Bus from MCO to the peir, or Car Rental?

If Car rental, what company is close to the Peir for drop off

or should we just do MCO to MIA and then a shuttle from MIA to the pier?

Please Help!!

(this wouldn't be an issue if the SO would let me drive, but she doesn't want to do the 24 hour drives anymore -- says I am too old to do it so we are flying)

Well, it's going to be about 4 hrs. I doubt a cab would be your best bet. I'm not sure of any shuttles that run from Orlando to Miami though.

There is a bus that goes from MCO to MIA but you would still have to rent a car to get from the Miami airport to the cruise port.
The bus system is http://www.redcoachusa.com/
And the cost can be as high as $70 per person one way.
You would be better off renting a car. You can get one at Alamo onsite at Disney.

Most major car rental companies have locations near the port in MIA with free shuttle to the port. Also, most car rental companies have no drop fees if you pick up at one location in Florida and drop at another. Make sure you check the fine print as you poke around web sites. Some companies may have a no drop fee only at airports.

We just did a cruise in April, but that was from Port Canaveral. (rented budget at MCO, drove to Canaveral, got on the shuttle)
All the sites i am finding don't really have much info on the Miami rental car drop offs or shuttles though -- (they are also kind of out of date, being 2009/2010 and alluding to "changes")

Of course once we get off the cruise we need to get back for our week at Disney!!

There are quite a few shuttles, but I don't know anything about them. Google "Orlando to Miami transportation."

Any chance you can rebook your flight to land in Miami? The cab between the Miami airport and cruise port is $24 plus tip.

A flight from MCO to MIA on August 20th would be $94 per person.

A rental car from the Port of Miami to Disney World would be about $85 for a full size.

I'd use Magical Express to get back to the airport on the way home - FREE!

got it all sorted out -- thanks to some guidence and some lessons from Pooh!

car rental from MCO to MIA is $89 one way, $126 the other.
Booked a hotel overnight that has a free shuttle from the airport, and to the cruise port!

so we got it all sorted now -- thanks all!

Do the rates on "premium" vehicles also come down? we are planning a convertable as a special treat..
