Orlando to Charlotte, NC

Hi guys!

UK DISer here, we're over at WDW again this august/september and are planning on hitting up Carowinds in Charlotte, NC the last weekend in august. My problem at the moment is finding cheap flights!! I can get return trip per person to Atlanta for less than $100 per person (except that we don't want to visit SFoG) but Charlotte seems to be minimum $250-300 + direct even though the flight time isn't much different!

Anyone have any suggestions how to bring this down at all? Any airlines I may not be aware of etc...

I looked at driving from Orlando, too long for our liking, same from Atlanta which seemed to be nearest 'cheap' flight I could find, the train from orlando is an overnighter only and far too long..... I want to fly but can only justify the trip if the cost is reasonable!

Any thoughts would be appreciated....

You can try RDU (Raleigh-Durham) which is about a 2 hr drive or GSP (Greenville-Spartanburg, SC). Allegiant fly's from SFB (Orlando-Sanford) to GSP. That may be an option for you. Their schedule is limited (Sunady and Thursday) and they are not yet booking the end of Aug but if you leave on Thursday the fare looks to be about $75 pp from SFB to GSP.

Allegiance also flys to Concord, NC which is about 30 minutes north of Carowinds.

Brilliant thank you guys - I figured there had to be local airlines that I wouldn't know about! Allegiant is looking around the 75-80 mark each way and the friday / saturday / monday schedule for concord works quite nicely with a weekender trip to Carowinds. Now just to find something to fill a saturday evening and all day monday with in the area.....!
