Today's Sentinel had a brief article in the Business section about the tiered pricing that went into effect several months ago. It turns out that not many people are paying for Tier I, and this means that a lot of the tables near the stage are empty. This has been having a bad effect since the actors do not get as much opportunity to play off the guests as in the past.

I didn't read the article, but I'm going to try and find it. I wonder if they ever upgrade your Tier 2 and Tier 3 tables if Tier 1 isn't sold out? That way, there won't be empty tables in the front. OTOH, with empty tables in the front, those in the back might be able to see better.

We paid OOP for Tier 3 for our next trip. I've been to Hoop only once, and that was at a good table near the stage years ago. I think that the balcony seats will be nice because we'll have a bird's eye view of the place and we won't have to look around other people. If an upgrade were available because of empty tables, I think I'd rather stay put upstairs in my cheaper seats. : ) I recently made this ADR for an August trip, and with the dining plan popularity I was surprised that a Tier 3 seat was available for us, especially during a busy month.
