Has anyone been to the Orlando Science Center? How long does it take to "do it"? Should we plan a full-day or would the second-half of a day be good--you know, after those school groups leave?

We love those hands-on science museums and they have a couple of exhibits that look cool.

It really depends on your family. We have gone several times and have spent the whole day there. They many times have the "surround" movies and such. it is a fun place and is several levels. Tell your kids to bring their "treasures" because in one room it is like a old fashioned general store with rocks and bugs and fossils, etc. And if they like your "Earth Oriented" treasure they will trade you for something you desire from the store. It can be a lot of fun. But as with anything I have heard other locals say they think it is lame - to each his own! :-)

Since my next door neighbor was traveling, I ended up taking her 6 year old daughter to the Orlando Science Center for a birthday party. My daughter who is 11 enjoyed the center and could have stayed there for hours. There were live animals to pet, among them a baby alligator, and plenty of exhibits, five floors full. However, the 6 year old who went for a party was not interested at all in being there. She showed no interest in knowing how electricity was made, how blood flows through your veins, how T-Rex was dug up, etc. We will definitely go back one day to explore everything, so it depends upon the ages of your children.

Across the street and just below the science center is a very nice folk museum. Seeing both would make a nice day of it. The Folk Museum is an easy short walk and the grounds are quite nice also.

The Science Center really is very nice and well done. You shouldn't be disappointed.
