I fly to the Sanford Airport a few times a year, I've found using a towncar service is MUCH better than a shuttle. I waited an hour for a shuttle bus to be loaded, then they make several stops dropping off the passengers to their different hotels. It took longer to get to my hotel than the flight to Sanford, so I would NEVER do that again. When using a towncar service you are on your way immediately.

After reading some prior messages regarding the Sanford Airport, I felt people would like to know this.

::yes::

I can sure agree with that! I was there 3 weeks ago. We waited about 90 minutes in the hot sun for a shuttle . Yes, we were ticked off!!! And now realizing a towncar for the 4 of us would have been about the same price, I wish I would have known. Thanks, I now know to reserve a towncar next time.

hey this is just what i was looking for - but i was hoping you could walk me through the whole sanford shuttle experience (good or bad) For example when you arrive at MCO you go downstairs to the mears desk tell them where you are going pay the 29 per peson or whatever they are charging at the time. Go outside they call your number get on the bus to resort...... .....call the day before to set up return time go outside get picked up and go back to airport. (i know that was borning). Anyway i was hoping maybe someone could walk me through the sanford shuttle experience - what company is it - are there more than one companies - are they always there is there a walk up desk - how much does it cost round trip - and what about coming back do you call or do they have a scheduled time to come back that is already set up - i know this is a lot but it's only me and one other person we don't want to rent a car and getting a town car for two would eliminate any savings we are getting by flying in to sanford in the first place - please help i'm very detail oriented (and very anal!:earseek: )

Cvet1: if convenience is NOT an issue with you, then MEARS is ok. Just remember that MEARS will wait until they are full; their drop offs are done in order, both of which could delay your actual arrival at the resort. I'm not even sure if their price is any better than a towncar. For our family of 4, it was just a bit more to rent a stretch limo. There's no delay there and our goal is to GET to WDW, not wait around at the airport! WDW ON JUNE 24

That seems like a no brainer to me.. reserve a towncar, then you are on your way immediately. It seems many people don't realize the Sanford Airport is about twice the distance to Disney, than from the Orlando International Airport.

Yes Nic, that is what I've noticed, many people don't comprehend the distance from the Sanford airport to Disney.

anyone know how long from Sanford to Universal?

Considering the approx. $200 (plus 20% tip) cost of roundtrip towncar service between Orlando Sanford Airport and the resorts at WDW, a rental car seems (for $120-200 per week dependinong in size) seems like a better value. Parking at WDW resorts is free. And it can be convenient to have a car for off-site shopping and restaurants.

d4est anyone know how long from Sanford to Universal?

It's about 45 minutes, depending on the traffic conditions.

We're flying into Sanford at 10:20 p.m. I think all of the rental car places are closed. Does anybody know of one that is open that late?

thanks greattrvl

We will be arriving, I think, around 9:30ish...hope a rental car place is open!

I'll be paying about $82 R/T from Sanford to BWV. How? I'm renting a car from National one way to the Dolphin. Then, I'll be renting a car one way from the Dolphin to the airport on our last day.

I like the freedom we'll have to select the store we'll stop in for our supplies, and the fact that I'll be in control of the car. So, I'm a control freak, I admit it.

Hi, Has anyone used Florida Towncar Service or Orlando Meet and Greet from Sanford Airport lately?? If so, how was the service and the prices?? There were some earlier posts that were not too complimentary of Florida Towncar Service, but they were from 2003. Thanks, Paulaken :chat:

Personally what I've found, the cheapest price in most cases gets you the lowest service. It's the old saying "you get what you pay for."

I just wanted to note that the service referenced in the above post is NOT the same as FL. Tours the official transportation company of the DIS!

I to have heard of questionable service from Florida Towncar Service.....

I definitely would recommend reserving with Trans Orlando Towncars, they are permitted to pick from that airport. I've seen some of the other cars there picking up passengers, they did not look good. Like I've read on this message board, you get what you pay for, don't go with cheapest.

We flew into Sanford Airport last August. There were 6 of us. We used Sunrise Florida Transportation. I think it was about $80 each way. The service was great and we had no problems coming from the airport to All Stars or the return trip. He even did a grocery stop for us. I think the trip was about 30-40 minutes going back to the airport. Coming from the airport is harder to judge because we made the grocery stop. The service we had... I would recommend them to people.
