I posted last week about a meeting I had at the JW Marriott. Well we were moved to the Ritz Carlton.

This is a VERY nice hotel. (Note to Disney: Send the GF Management over here. This is how a flagship hotel runs! This is what I expected when I checked into GF and did not receive.)

My room is large with a king size bed and a down comforter. I have a balcony with nice iron furniture with cushions a Phillips flat screen TV and all kinds of other toys (high speed internet, Clock radio with CD player, twice daily maid service, etc...) I am sitting in my cushy rob with slippers (I never wear slippers, but these were so nice looking. They are disposable, but you would never know it!) just watching the clouds move in.

If anyone wants to spend a lot of money this looks like a good place. The Spa info looks great, but I don't have time to do it this trip. The hotel is not cheap and there are lots of extra costs (valet parking is $14 and you have to hand out a lot of tips), but if you want a splurge this would be a good place.

I will be here until Thursday and will try to check the board tomorrow if anyone has any specific questions.

Thanks for the report, Carol. We are due to stay at the Ritz Carlton for 4 nights from 1 January. We got a rate of $178 per night which I am very happy with. I think I'm more excited about this trip than any of our previous Orlando visits!

I don't think I have any specific questions, but I'd be pleased to hear more about your stay. I'd quite like to try out the spa - they e-mailed me the list of treatments and there are so many, I just don't know what to try! We'll definitely eat at Norman's, but I'd also like to hear about the other eateries, so anything you can tell me will be helpful.

Debbie,
That is a great rate. (Mine is in the mid $200 range, but the company is paying!) I don't think you will be disappointed. For a fairly new hotel they seem to have their act in gear. If I could get that rate for a future stay I would jump on it.

I will let you know what I find out about the dining. I actually decided to eat at Epcot tonight. Most of our other meals will be catered to the meeting which reduces my chances of eating out, but I will ask. (I am sure some of the "biggies" at this meeting had a fancy dinner tonight! LOL!)

I timed the commute to Disney. About 10 minutes. Not bad at all.

When it opened earlier this year, the Ritz-Carlton easily became the best hotel in central Florida, IMHO. Disney really could learn a thing or two about "the ultimate in hospitality"...here are a few of the service "treats" you can expect:

* staff who don't just tell you where you're meeting is, they ESCORT you there! (even if you just need the restroom!)
* bellmen who bring joggers towels and bottled water upon their return to the hotel!
* staff who magically seem to learn your name and use it often when addressing you during your stay!
* all this and spectacularly luxurious appointments throughout the hotel...very difficult to do anything better than the RC already does it!

Everyone should experience an RC hotel at least once!
