Going to the MK, for the first time in about 3 more weeks, but fist I must get through MCO. Never have flown to Orlando. What is it like??? Is it hard to get though??? How is security???

Thanks!!!

MCO is a very nice airport and fairly easy to navigate. Just follow the signs and you will have NO problem.

One thing I do recommend is getting there EARLY for your return trip home. I flew home yesterday and the lines on Sunday were LONG everywhere. I flew NWA (B Terminal) and checked in at a Kiosk for my boarding pass, the problem was that it took about 30 minutes to check in my luggage. The line at security was about another 30 minutes.

I got a call from my friend on his cell phone and he was at the A terminal checking in at AirTran and his line was almost 45 minutes to check in and another 40 at security.

Here is the website for the airport.

Enjoy. :)

MCO is very easy to navigate. You will come in at either terminal A or B and will pick up your luggage at that terminal. Each side has access to ground transportation. If you are renting a car, it is easy to drive around the airport...just follow the signs for the south exit and take the greenway to WDW.

As for security...when doing your return trip, keep in mind the two hour rule...you will need to be there at least two hours prior to your departure time to make sure you get checked in and through the security checks. I have seen people bumped with 45 minutes til there flight because they wouldn't get through the security check in time! The plus side of MCO is that if you get there two hours early and get checked in right away, you can walk around the airport shops for a little bit before heading through security and two your gate...saves sitting in the gate area for an hour and half.

This has always bothered me............How do they get " MCO" for
"Orlando International Airport" ??? What EXACTLY does
" MCO" stand for ??? Please somebody...........let me know.

It used to be called McCoy. It was part of McCoy Air Force Base.

Kind of like how ORD is used for O'Hare... It used to be called Orchard Field decades ago....

Orlando has a great airport. There is some renovation going in some of the areas right now. I just got back last Saturday. I had an 8:00 am flight on USAirways and although the line was moderately long, we used the e-ticket machines and check-in was fairly painless. At Security the lines were indeed long, but moved pretty quickly.

I wish I could say the same for USAir at the Philadelphia airport. Checking in for my flight was a nightmare. I appreciated Orlando all the more for that reason.

k 1 more question. Are most of the resturants (like Pizza Hut, McDonald etc...) before the security checkpoint, or after like in the gates.

P.S. will be on Southwest.

There is a McDonald's in the gate area for SWA.
