sorry if this is a bit of a strange question, but does anyone know if there are steps/down esculator by the luggage travel belt and up esculator that you use to get on the monorail after you have gone through customs/immigration.

we are going to use ME for the first time, and since they no longer issue the ME luggage tags, want to take our luggage with us, as i am paranoid about them going missing or someone bringing us the wrong bags.
we are likely to have 4 cases between us; which me and dh can manage easily enough between us. this would mean ds8 pushing ds2 in the pushchair. one of us would need to take ds2 and folded pushchair up the esculator and come back down for the cases - which leads me to ask 'can we get back down' i hope that makes sense...

Yes there is an escalator but you have the option to use the bag drop and 2nd collection. You drop the bags before the escalator and collect in the main building. We have never had a problem with this but some have had long waits for the luggage. Downside is you are stuck to the side where your luggage is dropped, take it with you and you can choose which side of airport you want to use.

I have no experience with ME but I am sure they know what they are doing. We haven't used luggage labels on planes for about 2-3 years now since it was computerized and none of them have lost our luggage(yet)

You may also get a very nice airport member of staff one saw me struggling with mine to get it up the escalator and carried it up for me. :goodvibes

In November they made us use the bag drop and 2nd collection.

There is a lift - I have used it.

ours went 'missing' when we used this last time, took nearly 2 hrs to reach the 2nd claim, which is another reason why i want to take it with us
