Anyone got a link to a convention calendar for Orlando? Would like to see when most of the more heavily-attended conventions are.

This is the main convention calendar for Orange County, for events being held at the Orange County Convention Ctr. on I-Drive: http://www.orlandoconvention.com/Monthly.asp

In terms of park crowds and venues around WDW being closed for private parties, the above does have much effect in all but the most major cases. The conventions that most effect WDW are being held *at* WDW, and as far as I know, WDW doesn't publish a convention calendar for the general public. Swan/Dolphin, Coronado Springs, the Y/B Clubs, and the Contemporary are the largest convention hotels on property.

Great, 12/6, toward the end of our week, 2 different conventions are scheduled. That's 27000 people coming to town just for the conventions! Bummer, I know they'll all skip thier sessions to hit the parks instead! Wish we'd planned to go the week before. Oh well, we'll be fine!

Thanks for the link.

Actually, attendees of events at OCCC don't usually get down to WDW during their conventions except for special parties; they are more likely to visit WDW in the days right before the meetings start or right after their conventions end. If they are doing parks in the evenings, Universal gets the bulk of the traffic, because it is closer, and more likely to have given the planners a good price for a private event. (And because lots of people fall for the idea that there is no point in going to WDW if your kids are not with you.)

While some attendees will bring families who will go to the parks while Mom or Dad do meetings, it's usually well less than half during the school year. Most people who are there for conventions actually do go to the sessions, and it takes too much time to get down from I-Drive and into the parks unless you can stay for several hours.

I will be there for a large convention from January 10th to the 17th. The convention will be Jan. 13th-16th. It will be the National Association of Home Builders trade show. I had planned on going to WDW the week after the show but changed my mind. I will probably be going the first week in February now. I just looked at the estimated attendance for the builder show, It is 110,000 people.
