How is Orlando airport security, and what are the waiting times - for check-in/security etc?

Does every passenger have his/her luggage/baggage checked manually?

How do these compare with US and Canadian airports (I am a Canadian residing in Ottawa - I only have experience travelling between Ottawa to Toronto, return, since Sept 11). I have flownto Orlando, about 10 times, over the last 5 to 6 years - so I do have experience with Orlando's check-in/security procedures of the past?

We flew back last night on Delta Express after a week in Orlando. There were 5 adults, two kids, 8 suitcases, 2 carseats, 6 carryons, 3 purses and 2 stuffed animals. We stood in line about 15 minutes to check in. They asked the security questions and checked ID's. We went thru the security gates no problems. They did the explosive residue test on our video camera bag. We did not see much of the wand searches going on.

When we boarded the plane, we had to show ID again. One thing did bother me.....as we were boarding a man came out of the plane and said that he had left his jacket on a chair and needed to get it. It flustered the gate agent. She took his ticket away and let him go get it. I thought they should have called security and escorted him over to get it once he had already been on the plane. They did pull him to the side when he returned.

We just returned 2 weeks ago and were lucky that our skycap took our bags from the Dollar car rental return area directly to curbside check-in because the regular line was very long and moving very slowly. We saw lots of security personal of various sorts milling around (I love the bike cops). When going to the gate everyone was checked with a wand. At the gate itself we had to show ID 2 more times and they were pulling people at random to have bags searched. They appeared to be mostly single male passengers. I found that going through security took much longer at Phila airport at 4am than at Orlando at 2pm!

I appreciate the info...we're leaving in the morning for Orlando!!!!!
