We are keeping our fingers crossed that we will be able to take our scheduled DCL cruise in April 2021. It will be a special cruise with our daughter and 2 beautiful granddaughters. If this does happen, our schedule has us arriving back at the cruise terminal early Friday morning. I know it's still early but it appears our flight home, departing the Orlando Airport, is not until late that same evening.

Has anyone taken advantage of the Orlando Airport Hyatt Hotel's "Day Use Rooms"? This seems like a good option for resting rather than sitting at an airplane gate for the entire day.

Any information or recommendations would be appreciated.

Us too. April 23rd Cruise. We’ve used the day use at MCO Hyatt but for a little different reason. We took my parents on a Disney Cruise and now have them hooked. My father smokes so when we get to the airport we get a runway view balcony room at MCO Hyatt so he can smoke while waiting the 2 to 3 hours for our departure. It’s fine with us because the kids can watch TV, you can order food and you have wi-if. It’s like your own airline lounge. I’m surprised more people do not do this.

One other thing to note is that if you arrive at at the Orlando airport early in the day they will not let you check your luggage until a few hours beforehand. (I think it was 2-3.) We ended up having to hang out in the lobby with our luggage for several hours, which was not fun. In the future if we have a later flight I would definitely consider using a day room at the Hyatt.

Obviously, whether "worth it" or not mostly depends on your flight time. However, it's probably the easiest and most convenient way to pass the time if you have a later flight home. Nice to have comfortable beds to take a nap, or be able to lounge by the pool as most people are tired given how early you have to wake up and the overall hectic nature of debarkation mornings. Also, many families don't have time to shower before leaving the ship, so to be able to shower before your flight is a plus (that those seated around you on your flight I'm sure appreciate). I've done day rooms at other hotels also after getting off cruises at Port of Miami and Port Everglades.

I’ve stayed at the Hyatt at MCO for the very reason you stated. Our flights left MCO in the evening and as you know our cruise returned in the morning. It was so nice for the kids to be able to relax, take naps and everybody charge their phones. We checked into our day room, went to get food from the food court and returned to the room to relax. Later we went to check our luggage in, returned to the room for about an hour or two and then checked out. TSA check in is right downstairs by the elevator. I think I paid $100. They charge $10 more I think if you want 2 queen beds instead of a king. We have a cruise next year and will definitely be booking another day room if our flights are later in the evening.

We stayed there last summer as our flight was late in the day. It was nice to take a shower and clean up after getting up early, hustling off the ship etc. My husband stayed there and watched ESPN and my daughters and I took a Uber to Disney Springs for the afternoon. I would not hesitate to do it again.

Can the day rooms be reserved ahead of time? Over the phone or online?

There is a lovely pool on the rooftop. You can order food to be delivered there or you could pick something up from the food court and take it there as well.
@Intr3pid we have always phoned our reservation in.

You have to call to make the reservation for a day room. We last did it in 2019 and I think the cost was $119. They also have an outdoor pool, which is a nice way to spend the time before a flight.

We loved our Day room at the Hyatt. It is worth every penny in my opinion...if you have a later flight. You have privacy and can nap, watch tv, shower, etc. A wonderful alternative to just sitting in the airport for hours, especially if you have children. Highly recommend it!

I love it.
I was today years old when I learned about it.
To the OP: thank you for posting this.
Having a place to take a nap, have a peaceful meal watching TV, relax right before a flight sounds amazing.
I know where we'll be going next time we debark from DCL and have nothing to do and wait to our usual flight to Toronto in the afternoon.

We had a day room in January and it was a lifesaver. We had a 6:30 flight to San Diego and you can't check bags until a few hours before the flight. We were able to store our bags and take a nap until the flight. Wife and I both got sick on the Fantasy and this was a much needed rest before the flight. Called from the ship at 6:00 AM and was able to get a room for the day. The room was great and the biggest TV I have seen in a hotel room. Well worth it at any price, especially if you have kids and don't want to sit in a terminal all day.

You learn new things all of the time here...:thumbsup2

Thanks everyone for the posts I was not aware of this service and for around $100 for the day seems like a good offer...might make taking a later flight more of an option going forward if the savings is there.
