Organizing Memory Memory Maker Pictures after Trip

Now that our trip is done, I've got a project of creating Disney photo book. Normally I have ongoing albums that i just add to (yes, even with digital photos, I ensure to print out a bunch every few months), but i thought for Disney I'd create a separate book.

We have tons of pictures: almost 300 from memory maker, plus my camera, plus my phone plus DH phone.

One thing I'm wondering...for those that create an album, do you add borders/stickers to 'some', 'none' or 'all' of your memory maker photos? So far I have added them to a few such as Star Wars border for Jedi Traiining, around a few princess ones, but am not sure if it'll look funny in an album to have many with borders (although the non memory maker ones won't have borders)

I'm having such a hard time narrowing down the pictures.

I usually save the photos both with and without borders, and sometimes do multiple borders on a particular picture. I may end up with 3 or 4 copies of the same picture with different borders.

As for the scrapbook, I think it would be ok to have both pictures with and without borders.

I do this same thing. Then I pick what I like best for in a book.

I am actually working on this now as well! I put borders on some but kept the origional. Are you makeing the book through the disney site? I always use shutterfly, but the thought of real Disney theme is tempting.

I kept the original for everything, some photos got multiple borders if they had ones that matched the picture and I edited at least 1 photo from each set whether it was a sticker, border or both. I took advantage of Snapfish's 1 cent print sale and ordered everything. When the time comes to stick it in the scrapbook, I'll decide which ones work best. At just 1cent paid on any duplicates it's not a big deal if I toss a few.

Fun project isn't it? No, probably won't use Disney as it's quite expensive (plus I'm in Canada so would also have to pay for shipping). Am looking at using Blacks Photography service...and then I can just pick it up at a local store. They seem to have nice selections for books. Am just trying to figure out how many photos you can get per page.

I always do Shutterfly as well, but one year I did a Disney Photobook. There were a lot of great options for stickers, pages, layouts, etc. I am not sure it was worth the money they charge, but I am glad I did it.

I can check out shutterfly too and see how it compares.

Ugh...anyone have issues with the Memory Maker site? I find it super slow, plus half the time I select the 'Download' button it doesn't work, then I have to start again. I'm using Chrome as it seems faster than IE, but it seems to suck too. Is it just me?

That is great to know! Thanks!
Does the Disney site allow you to add a lot of pages? My book is going to be pretty big...

I use firefox, I have not really had a problem. It is sometimes slow though.

Same for me...I usually use Shutterfly but did the Disney Photopass one once. I loved all the themes and stickers...and they've gotten better since the one I did (I checked it out just for fun this past year)...but when I got my Disney book it came with the pages printed out of order. Not my mistake...theirs...the title page was at the end of the book and the page numbers were all out of order. I don't know how it happened but I contacted Disney and it took about 10 emails back and forth before they agreed to reprint and send me another copy. That experience was bad...very rare I'm sure...but bad. So I just stick with Shutterfly now.

One thing I LOVE to do on Shutterfly it take some scenic background shots while I'm on vacation and use those as the backgrounds for my layouts. I'll do super close ups of Disney balloons, scenic shots at World Showcase, pictures of the icons at each park, etc...then I set them as the background and make sure they are very faded out and light in the background. It gives the books a more "Disney" feel to them.

As far as borders and stickers...I use some of each...some regular and some with borders. I always make sure I have copies of both the "regular" version and the versions with borders and stickers. Then I use the one I like the best.

Thanks for the replies. catra121, I can't believe the Disney book arrived with stuff out of order. At least they eventually decided to re-print. I did see my friend's Disney photo book (back when it was part of photo pass promotion) and it really was lovely. Actually, that's what gave me the idea of creating a separate photo book instead of just plunking these into our regular albums.

Thank you for suggesting Firefly. It does seem faster than Chrome and the only time I got an error was when it timed out. Moreover, I like how it displays the pictures in order (whereas Chrome puts the more recent at the top so you are looking backwards). And with Firefox, some of the lost photos from 'resorts and More' in Chrome are displaying on the correct park tab in Firefox. So this seems like the best browser so far.

I am having fun adding borders or stickers. I love the effect of adding a signature to the characters / princess photos. Very cute.

I love shutterfly, I have been using it for a long time. That is a great idea, using the scenic pictures in the back ground!! Once I am done going through the 5 millon photos of our 4 day trip I will have to play around with both and see what I want. Shutterful has such GREAT deals though!!! The price is hard to beat when they have 50% off photobooks!

+1 on Shutterfly. I meant to use MM to add things to a photobook I want to give to my folks for Christmas, but just couldn't find the time before they expired. Then just the other day Shutterfly send me a coupon for a free book (I'm sure there will be some upsell, but that's a great starting point) if I order by November 13th. You better believe I'll be taking the time out to do them this weekend.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think since I'm in Canada, the shipping charges would be a lot for me. By using one of our local photography centres, I can get it shipped to the store and theirs seems pretty good too from the brief look I did.

I have a question about the downloads. Do you get unlimited downloads? Can I download just a few pictures at a time? Can I download the same picture more than once? Can I download pictures to more than one computer?

Thanks.

I downloaded everything initially.
Then have gone back and modified some photos to add borders or stickers (i.e. logo, signature, etc). Then download each photo separately.
So yes to those questions.

I haven't tried downloading on another computer, but I would imagine there's no reason you can't. You sign on with your MDE account, so just download again. Everything you have downloaded go to your download page, or you can select them again.

There is a time limit though...I think 45 days from when you download it the first time.

I have another question that I hope someone can help me with. We traveled with our daughter. She had her own MDE account and we linked our two accounts. I purchased the Memory Maker and she can see our photos on her account but I can't see the photos that are associated with our son-in-law's MagicBand. How can I see those pictures?
