Goal - enjoy a clean and organized home
Treat - A sweater drying rack, hamper, ironing board cover. (personally I would get a laundry bank for loose change)
Tip - get each family member a different color basket so sorting dry clothes can be done in a snap.
Declutter
- clean off the tops of the washer, dryer, and laundry folding table
- throw away solo socks (let's face it the other one is not coming back)
- collect all the money that has fallen out of clothes and save for a treat (like, oh, I don't know, maybe DISNEY!!!)
- remove anything from the area that is broken, empty, or belongs elsewhere.
Clean
- clean the outside surfaces of the washer and dryer. Check the inside surface of the dryer for dried gum, ink spots, or other build up.
- check hoses, clean filters and dryer ducts; repair and replace as needed. Also if possible pull the front cover off dryer and vacuum out lint under dryer barrel (known fire hazard)
- clean your iron
Maintain
- put wire basket or shelving unit over the washer to hold laundry products
- create laundry center for folding, hanging, and ironing freshly laundered clothes
- get a cardboard hanger caddy from a local dry cleaner to manage hanger supply (I think Walmart has plastic ones too)
- keep sewing kit nearby for quick repairs on clothing
