This would appeal to my list making friends as well as those not so obsessed with lists.....

When we made our countdown chain...

DD10 numbered the days (easy to see quickly)
and hung it on our interior kitchen door with a wreath hanger
and added stickers

I wrote quick notes to remind me of what I should be doing on what day - here's a few of them...

60 days - PS calls
30 days - RES (reminder to confirm all reservations)
20 days - snacks (reminder to start buying)
10 days - weather (print out weather forecast)
8 days - pack (pack or repack bags based off above)
4 days - charge (all electronics)
3 days - dc bags (double check luggage)
2 days - carry (recheck carry on's)
1 day - SCREAM! with joy of course

Just some thoughts......you all have been so helpful to me I hope to pay it forward.

That's a good idea to write down what you need to do on each day. Did you write it on the chain link for that day?

Is this the part where I ask, "What in the world is a countdown chain?" or do I just click on to the next thread?:upsidedow

Yes, I wrote the day's task right on the link.

A countdown chain is a way for you and your kids to see really how many days/nights/"sleeps" until you leave for DLR.

Cut paper in about 6" x 2" strips. Tape the end together. Connect each progressive strip to the one already "closed." Hang from window/door. Cut each link every morning or night.

(This was once a common way to decorate a Christmas tree instead of garland or beads.)

I could send you a picture of ours.....

Ah, okay! I had no clue that's what they were called. Thanks! :)
