Does anyone own one of these? Do you like it?

I absolutely Love my Oreck. I've had it for 3 years now. I like that it's lightweight, I like that it has a small base so you can get under furniture, & it picks up great. I love the 7 year warranty (I've never paid anything to have it serviced). Btw, they also have a sweeper with a 21 year warranty.
A good friend of mine has had her Oreck for 20 years now. It's still running!

I have had mine for 3 years and I LOVE IT!!!! It is so light that my DD (6) can carry it.

I dont think you will be disappointed. It is pricey, but so are alot of the "good" vacuums.

A really big advantage is the Oreck Stores. If you have a problem, just bring it in and they will fix it. I have NOT had a problem. I needed to replace the belt, $4.00 for 2 and it was very easily installed by myself!

I also have the car vac, the canister vac, and the iron. I love them all!!

Great news.

Can you give me a price range?

Do you have pets?

I did have an Oreck but I hated the bags so I got a Hoover WindTunnel bagless, which was okay. I finally bought the Dyson Animal (purple one) and I was appalled by how much cat and dog hair and just dirt and dust it picked up. GROSS!!

Especially if you have the old fashioned hardwood floors with the gaps between the boards.

So, if you have either the multiple pets (or multi children!) or the floorboards with gaps, I would hold my nose and shell out the bucks for the Dyson.

A close friend and my mother-in-law both also swear by the Dyson.

Tinkerbelle....can you tell me about the canister vac? I'm looking at these too and need a vac that can do hardwood floors, since our main floor is hardwood, but second floor is carpeted. Does the canister vac come with an attachment for both? When I looked on the website it seemed as though you can choose one or the other but not both.

I have an Oreck and the main selling features for me are...lightweight (I can pick it up and vacuum the couches) and the long cord. The belts break often, we have multi cats and kids and I have very long hair that gets wrapped around the bar.

I've had my Oreck for about 7 years and just had the first belt break. I was pleasantly surprised to find an extra belt stored on the bottom so I didn't have to go to the store to get one and it was very easy to replace. Besides changing the bags that's the only maintenance I've done on it.

I have a pet and had Pergo floors when I bought it. I wanted a vacuum that did not spit the dirt out the back when used on the Pergo like my old vacuum did.

It is very lightweight and is so easy to pick up and use where you need it. I think the price should be between $300-400 and you also get a small portable canister vac to go with it.

I'm one of the few people who did NOT like the Orek. I liked that it was lightweight. I thought cleaning was so-so and the bags were a pain (because of the particular model I had, they told me). It might be okay for people who are more on top of cleaning than me -- I've got three kids, two jobs, etc., -- I eventually get around to cleaning, but you don't want any white gloves in my house!

I also had a warranty problem -- what was wrong with mine was not "covered" b/c I had picked up a rock youngest dh put under the couch. I retired it and bought a Windtunnel. It's okay -- I wouldn't call it the best vacuum ever made but it does a better job than the Orek and it was cheaper, too.

WOW!!! You are the first person (other than myself) who admits to this problem.! DD and I both have long hair and I am constantly having to take out the beater bar and cut the hair off it! (EWW!) I also go through MANY belts on both my Oreck and my Eureka. I have claimed in the past that my house is the "Bermuda Triangle" of vacuums. I have a 3 year old Oreck, which I do love, but I am in need of a replacement beater bar at the moment.... it started losing little silver ball bearings from the bar and now it won't turn right. I ALWAYS have two vacuums in my home, because one is constantly in need of repair or at the repair shop. This amazes most of my friends.

My only complaint about my Oreck (commercial grade, bought through a friend who owns a cleaning company) is that is has no edge cleaner. My Eureka has a great edger, so I end up alternating vacumming with one and then the next time with the other, so that the edges don't get yucky.................P

I HATE the Oreck vacuum cleaner we have at work!
I don't know what model it is, but it's orange, and an upright with bags. It doesn't have an edge cleaner, and will "push" certain things, rather than suck 'em up. I wouldn't buy one for my home. I have a Hoover (with the hand-held vac attached on the front) upright that is still going strong and it's got to be nearing 20 years old.

Love mine! Works great. Picks up very well and is light to carry up and down the stairs.

We recently bought the 2-speed Oreck with the 21-year warranty. I think it was around $700. So far I absolutely love it. It does a great job on my Oriental rugs as well as the carpeting. I even use it on my stairs since it is so lightweight. I even like to use it on my ceramic because it doesn't throw the crumbs around.

It came with a small canister vac that you carry around with a shoulder strap which is fantastic for hardwood floors. It has a couple of different brushes that do a great job on hardwood without scratching it.

It also came with a car vac and a cordless iron. I haven't used either of those yet though. I'm waiting until my current iron goes, and DH uses the shop-vac to vacuum the car.
