We are staying at the GCH for our upcoming trip. I was thinking it would be nice to get take out from some of the downtown Disney restaurants and eat our dinner at the pool. Does anyone have experience with this? I'm curious if all the restaurants have the ability to prepare food to go.

Someone with more info will chime in, I'm sure, but I will say that you can most definitely get food to go from Earl of Sandwich. The sandwiches are tightly wrapped and they give you a take out bag. You should also be able to get something to go from the Jazz Kitchen Express (next to the Jazz Kitchen restaurant) and Napolini (next to Naples).

You might even be able to get something to go from La Brea Bakery, but that one I am not sure about.

We enjoyed ordering from Marris and eating by the pool. They deliver to the Bell Service area of the hotel. They bring napkins and paper plates too.
We liked it so much the kids wanted to do it three times during the trip. The down time around the pool was so nice.

With it being less than $20 for a large pizza that tastes great, now it's part of our overall plan for Disney trips.
We've only ordered pizza. Next time I'm taking a copy of their menu so I can order more than just pizza.

I don't think very many (if any) of the DTD TS locations can do take out in the tradition sense where you call the restaurant, place and order, and then pick it up at the podium. I know that both HoB and the Jazz Kitchen can do take out orders, but you have to go there, place an order at the bar and then wait for it to be prepared. I'm guessing it's similar at the other TS locations. I think your best bet for a quicker option, is to try the CS locations in DTD (e.g., Earl of Sandwich, Jazz Kitchen Express, Naples, etc.) because those seem more design to take food and go.

If you have a specific locations in mind, I would just give them a call and ask. Most of the DTD TS locations have dedicated phone numbers that you can call listed on their websites.

This is something we learned way too late! A lot of the big nice sit down restaurants have a smaller (and cheaper) quick service restaurant right next door!!! Wish we would have known when we first started going!!!

Just to follow up on my above post and to confirm -- in addition to the other places I mentioned (Earl of Sandwich, Napolini and Jazz Kitchen Express) and the other suggestions that have been made in this thread, La Brea Bakery Express (next to La Brea Bakery) does, indeed, offer food to go as well - https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/downtown-disney-district/la-brea-bakery-express/.

For some reason I was assuming that you were not planning to call first and then pick it up -- though maybe you were? When I read your initial post I immediately assumed that you would just walk up to one of the DTD places that have been mentioned, place your order and take it to go.

In any case, now you know you have several options and can dine by the pool!

We usually call over to Napolini while at the pool at GCH, and my DH goes over and picks it up and brings it back. Not THE BEST pizza ever but good enough. We like to do this because we can take any leftovers to the room after pool and our family doesn't really find White Water Snacks delicious later in the day (good breakfast though).

La Brea Bakery express Ham and Guyere sandwich is AMAZING! But everyone in our family always wants different things and my DH says it's hard to carry everything back (He also may just love the Napolini pizza because he stops at Uva Bar for a beer on the way :drinking:)

I'd recommend Napolini and the GCH front desk can give you their direct number when you check in.

I've ordered takeout from Rainforest Cafe before. My daughter was dying for a burger and the wait for a table was 90 minutes. They just sent to the bar.
