Ordering something off the Lunch menu at Dinner time?

Has anyone ever tried to order something that's on the lunch menu for dinner time?

For example, at Captain's Grille, I think DS would much rather have either the Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Roasted Turkey Sandwich or The Captain's Burger over anything on the dinner menu.

If we asked, will they let him order it or is it truly only available during lunch time?

Thanks in advance!

It will totally depend on the day you are there. The only thing you can do is ask and see if they can accommodate you are that time. If they have the items still out and available, it might be possible. However, that might not happen every day. I would have a backup plan in case.

In many restaurants the lunch items are put away to make room for the dinner prep items. If the ingredients are readly available they might be able to accomodate you or make something similar, but I wouldn't count on it. As the PP said, have a back up plan - for example, there's usually a chicken dish on every dinner menu - perhaps he could have that grilled plain.

Thanks so much to both of you! He'll eat the steak or the chicken off the adult dinner menu (we upgraded him to an adult on the DDP for this trip), it was just that, if given the choice between the two menus, I really think he'd prefer a couple of those lunch items more. So I guess we'll ask and if not, it's not a deal breaker or the end of the world. :)

I'd also think your chances would be better at this particular restaurant. They are not a place that tends to be overly crowded so they might be more accommodating then someplace that is packed and turning people away. Good luck!

I wish the answer was more concrete, but it really is "Sometimes yes... sometimes no." Even here on the boards we sometimes see how a person was able to do it one day and then someone else was not allowed to during the same time period. Disney really does do it's best at accommodating their guests, but sometimes it is simply not possible due to the way things work.

Hope you have a great trip!

Can't speak for Captain's but last trip we did dinner at Sci Fi instead of lunch & dd always gets the turkey sandwich was told the only lunch item you could get there was the burger.
