Has anyone ever just ordered groceries from the DVC website? Is it a lot more expensive than garden grocer? Seemed really easy. We don't need a lot and the prices didn't seem that outrageous. Would love to hear feedback. Thanks in advance.

Prices are high, they are the same items that are available in the store at each resort. You pay for a CM to pull the order and deliver. The last time that I did a study, Disney was the most expensive, then GG, WeGo, and the least expensive and flexible was renting a car for the day and doing our own shopping.

Trying out wegoshop for the first time in October. 1 day car rentals are showing $60 for our October stay, the wegoshop delivery fee is $24-29. There is also a $25 discount with $100 purchase, basically negating the delivery fee.

Our rental is usually around $30 and we only tip bell services once we don't tip the service and we no longer have the chance of any errors or problems. The last time we used GG it took 3 days for them to correct the mistakes on the order and tracking their prices everything was marked up. One of our items was a small beef roast and they left the store tag on it. It was marked up $10.

We have had good luck with GG.
If you order 60 days in advance there is a 10% discount.
Delivery is $14 and if you order $200 the delivery is $2.
We fly and use ME - we do not rent a car.

For others reading, we also fly and use DME. We rent for one day using Alamo at the Dolphin. Once we have a problem with a service we tend to look at other options. For us doing our own shopping gives us a break away from Disney and we enjoy the flexibility of being able to shop anywhere without a mark up. We have prepared everything from Thanksgiving dinner to sandwiches and we love Publix deli fried chicken. We call ahead and they fry it up fresh for us.

When I've used WGS I get the store receipt. No mark ups. They even got me BOGOS!

The last time I used WeGoShop I was disappointed as they called early while I was checking in and insisted that I come to the parking lot and pay her NOW. I left my place in line and went out and paid her and she asked for her tip which I gave her. She had checked my groceries with Bell Services instead of delivering them to my room as they had always done. So I was stuck tipping her and Bell Services. What I like about WGS was that they delivered the groceries to the room so that the refrigerated items could immediately be put in the refrigerator. What have other people experienced lately from WGS?

We use garden grocer exclusively - we have always had good luck. We get a text when stuff is delivered to bell services and our stuff is always packaged/sorted correctly so that the cool stuff stays cool etc in bell services. Once they forgot the diet coke and delivered it later that day after we called them - no fuss, no muss. I know GG is more expensive than WeGoShop but we've always had great experiences with GG.

We have done both and it really comes down to convience and how much you need. If your going full on grocery order for cooking dinners then GG is the way to go. If you just need some milk snacks and cereal then dvc is just easier. Now you can just got do the stores and buy everything and save the 10 bucks but you also get 10% off for dvc so it eats away some of the charge. Also they put it in your room and put the cold stuff in the fridge so you don't have to wait around for them and if your like us we get going ASAP and there is always a chance your room is really not ready until 4 never happened to us but could happen. We are going in a few weeks and opted just to do dvc sic e we just need breakfast stuff and some water and snacks 50 bucks max no need for GG.

Side note if your needing beer then GG is the way to go no matter what

Bring some snacks, cereal etc in your suitcase and get a few things at the general store at your resort - cases of water there also.
Forgot the price but not crazy.

We never cook in the room - not even breakfast. We though buy tonic water, diet coke, coffee creamer, granola, sodas, water, limes, apples, cheese, crackers, more cheese, more crackers, and some chips (plus we order for my MIL/FIL who get their own room but who like to have snacks). Granted I haven't looked recently at the inventory available for pre-ordering from DVC but we want in the general stores. The selection (or lack thereof at the resort) is our big reason for GG. I just finalized our order today: we got the pre-order discount and with tip+delivery it came to around 174$.

Of course, we also keep vodka in our storage locker so we need the tonic water and limes to go with the vodka. :sunny:

Edited to add: I just looked at the DVC member website's pre order form with BCV. Compared to what we paid via garden grocer, I think DVC is significantly pricier with less variety/options. That said, for a few items, buy at the resort store.

We used WGS a 1 1/2 yrs ago. Nothing was wrong with the order or the shopper, but I was told before hand they couldn't enter the resort. I would have to meet them outside. I was told Disney would consider that trespassing if they tried to deliver to the room. So the fact that you paid for the service, then tipping the shopper, then tipping bell services, I wonder how much I saved. We only used a shopping service becasue we were traveling with DS, DDIL and DGS. Usually for just the two of us, we pack things in suitcase and buy milk, soda, eggs, and juice from the resort store.

I've never used the DVC preorder, but the form says something like 'will be delivered after 5 pm" If I happen to get my room at 1, I don't want to wait until 5 for the food. Usually with the plane trip, we won't have had much to drink and will want something right away. Has anyone used the service and had the food in the room when they checked in, no matter the time?

Another benefit to renting a car and doing your own shopping is that bell services can make mistakes. You assume that your delivery was placed in the storage refrigerator in a timely fashion, not always so. I have been backstage and seen the conditions that bell services works in, sometimes the refers are full, sometimes they get busy, sometimes they misplace things.
