Ordering from the child's menu?

Do they have a strict age limit on the child's menu at the restaurants in the parks? I'm looking at the menus online and I have to say that some of the kids meals sound pretty good! And of course the price doesn't hurt. ;)

Would they allow an adult to order a kid's meal? I can never finish a full meal anyway so really size wise and just the sound of some of those meals may be a better fit for me.

Has anyone else done this?

I had to order from the kid's menu one since I could not eat anything from the regular menu. I'm so picky with food. I had no problem.

That's part of why so much of the kid's food sounds better to me. I'm very picky and some of the adult options may have one thing I like and then a bunch of sides etc with it that I won't touch ... to me that's just wasteful then. And my mother will be with us and she is allergic to pepper big time and while so many adult meals seem to sound like they would have a kick, usually kids meals are more tame.

I was wondering the same about my DS (who is 14 but taller than me!) But he is so picky - especially about how it is prepared (loves steak, but no peppercorn or anything like that; only likes mac & cheese for pasta, nothing fancy or seasoned or spicy....) A lot of the adult meals sound too sophisticated for his taste, and would end up being wasted. I'm mostly concerned about CCR for WOC dining package (have to order entry and dessert or appetizer, and afraid he won't like how it's prepared on the adult menu) :confused3

At table services, remember that Disney is VERY good about helping those with modifying dishes. Don't be afraid to ask them if they can make something different.

I haven't seen much that is spicy (referring to the comment about things having a kick) except for at French Market. The corn chowder and jambalaya (we had the vegetarian version) both are rather spicy, and now that their cornbread has jalapeno inside of it you can't even get some respite from nice bland (but good) cornbread!

My youngest daughter is Asperger's, and has "problems" ordering from adult menus. She frequently orders from the children's menu if she can't find something she likes on the adult menus. The way it generally works at SIT DOWN restaurants is they double the portion size, and double the price. We've done this all her life, I think she was about 14 when they first did it, she is now 22.

at WDW restaurants you can order an adult sized portion of a kids meal, and be charged more than the kids price of course. My DS is VERY picky, and we did this several times. We even got him chicken strips and french fries at Ohana! It was overpriced chicken strips and fries... but it was all he would eat. I bet they will do this at Disneyland restaurants as well. It won't decrease your cost by much, if at all, but for picky eaters, at least it's a meal you like.

Counter yes.

Table - depends. They might not give you everything in the kid's meal but charge you the same price.

I haven't been at Carnation Cafe in a while but the last time I did, I wanted to order the kid's meal waffles because it came with hot chocolate. They'd let me order it (to get the 2 mini waffles) but not give me the hot chocolate. So, I just went with the adult sized waffle (large waffle)

I agree, counter - yes!

Table - in addition to not getting the included drinks, they may follow the double-double rule - double the child's portion at double the price.
