Is it possible for an adult to order from the children's menu? I think I remember doing this back in 2007, but I don't know of they've develped a policy since then. I find that regular meals are too big and not worth the extra money.

Thanks.

To the best of my knowledge there is no restrictions on adults ordering from the children's menu. Of course if at a buffet or other all you can eat this would not work. And if on the dining plan it would still use an adult credit.

The worst part about an adult ordering off the children's menu is the lack of variety. Those menus don't offer similar things to the adult menu, just basic kid food. You might not be allowed to order off that menu, but if they let you, the charge will probably be more than they charge a child. I know my son wanted to order off the kid's menu once and they wouldn't let him. Another time he was allowed to do it, but paid more. He was about 13.

Are we talking table service or counter? I don't think you would have any problem with counter at all.

At DL we've been able to have our kids order from the kids' menus with no problems. Of course CS is easy, I've even eaten from the kids' or toddlers' menus during CS but TS can be more difficult. At 1 restaurant DD13 didn't want anything from the adult menu, the server said it was no problem she could order from the kids' menu and if it wasn't enough food she could double the portion for double the price. DD13 is tiny and eats like a bird so a regular kids' portion was just fine for her so that's what she got. Another time we went to another TS and the server there was quite rude about it, I said she would be ordering from the kids' menu because the adult menu was just not right for her and he said "you can't tell me that, if you tell me that you have to order from the adult menu" my reply was "fine, she won't eat here then, she will get something somewhere else when we leave" (I should note we would have simply left but it was DD10s bday and she picked the place to eat so no leaving) he said "just say that she's too old, just place her order, I won't question it" so we did eat there and he did get a tip as if DD13 had ordered from the adult menu but he didn't like it. So YMMV but IME it's gone both ways, more in the favor of the kid ordering from the kids' menu but that one time......

On occasion, I'll order from the children's menu if I am not really hungry and don't want to hassle with leftovers. I've never had a problem as I preface my order with "I am really 8 years old. I just look big for my age." It usually gets a laugh from the server. With that being said, when I do order from the children's menu in a restaurant, I don't ask for a refill on the drink just a glass of water to go with it or I'll order a regular-sized drink in addition to the kids meal.

I have ordered off the kids menu at counter service if I'm really not that hungry, but like a previous poster mentioned, there's not much to choose from. Chicken Fingers and Burgers mostly.

very clever and I might steal it for my own use. On the serious note, tho, I've never had trouble ordering from the kid's menu at any restaurant I just usually want something other than a hotdog or mac and cheese. WE usually just share an entree.

Many people have posted on here that it's fine at the TS restaurants but if you're not a child, they will make you an adult size kid's meal for a larger price. Obviously, it's fine at the CS places. If there's an adult that you can share an entrée with it would probably be less expensive than ordering an adult's entrée and an upgraded child's meal.

at disney, there's no issue with ordering from the kids menu. We did have a waitress at kuzzina's say that there might be an issue in the future, but so far nothing else has been said. I don't know if it was just a Cat thing or not.
I've been to le celliers a half dozen times with both of us ordering from the kids menu with no issue.

The only place outside of disney we've had an issue was at Friendly's and have just avoided eating there ever again.

If you just want smalller options, try ordering some side items as an entree. Those can be really yummy too.

I order from the kids menu at CS quite a bit, but don't have the courage to try it at TS. I don't know if there is an equivalent in WDW but at DLR the Riverbelle Terrace has great carver sandwiches and the kid's meal is plenty..you get the sandwich, fruit, side and drink..plenty!

Why even mention or joke that it's for an adult? They don't care, and they don't know who is going to eat it once you take it away from the counter. I have ordered before when I wasn't that hungry and just ordered without comment. If I weren't that hungry at a TS restaurant, I would order soup or share an adult meal.

I have a smaller appetite since chemo and always oder TS kids meals.
At the parks you don't have many choices but the reosrts all have most of the same meals that they have for kids. I usually get a pasta type at AStars or Pop, or a sandwich etc in some of the others.
The Land at Epcot does have better choices for kids meals than some of the restaraunts. I honestly would go crazy if I had to stick to chicken nuggets or PB&J. I think it really isn't fair to the kids who do eat normal meals.

There actually IS a policy "please leave the children's menu for those under ten" or something similar - and its been there for years - printed on the kids menu and on the counter service signs as I recall. But I have never heard of it being enforced. I suspect its there to discourage use by adults, not stop it - and of course at a CS restaurant they have no idea who you are ordering for and no way to enforce it.
