has anyone ordered from disney shopping from Canada. Is it worth it ...or exspensive shipping...does it take long? I am soooooo new to ordering on the net and i'm not sure about shipping costs. Thanks!

The Shipping costs can be outrageous! And the Duty and Taxes!

Do you know someone who lives in the US? If so, ask if you can ship there and have them mail it to you here.

Another option, have it sent to WDW upon arrival!

Ordered from them a few times, but always when we were on our way to Disney, so had the order shipped to the resort. The shipping costs to Canada are ridiculous!!

I second the advice to ship it to a friend in the US or plan your order if you're taking a trip to the states. Most hotels will hold parcels for you if you are staying. I usually ordered about 1.5 - 2 weeks ahead of time and then called the hotel to ensure the package had arrived before I headed out. Worked like a charm!!

I had a box last month and paid about $70 on top of my "total" to (a) ship--calculated by Disney at about $35 US and (b) pay off DHL and the duty--payable at the door when delivered, another $35, at least in Canadian that time!! I did get some AMAZING deals and still think it was worth it--and got 3 day delivery to NS, which is unheard of from the US--but wouldn't do it again unless those deals again look super. (I got a couple of adult Pooh t's for $3 each, and 2 swimsuits for my 3 yo dd for $7 each--and a bunch of other stuff.) I will shop before we leave and have stuff shipped to us. I only wish there was full disclosure so you could know what you're getting in to--Disney calculated the shipping before I finalized the purchase--but the DHL charge was a mystery until the guy was at the door...

If you're having it shipped to a hotel in the U.S., ask if there's a charge to receive incoming parcels. I was in Las Vegas last week and had Disney shopping send a parcel to me. The hotel charged by weight to receive inbound parcels. For my parcel, it was $11 US. It was still worth it for me, but it definitely caught me by surprise.

Not saying this ISN'T an option, but be prepared... sometimes Canada Post opens packages shipped from the US and they will charge you $5 for the privilege of having your mail opened and inspected (I know... it makes NO SENSE that you have to pay them for something you don't want them to do, but that's bureaucracy for you). And if your friend isn't prepared to lie on the customs declaration and say it's a gift valued under $60 CN, you may be hit with GST/HST as well.

Sigh. Hotels charge to receive the package, Disney charges big to ship the package, customs brokers (if they are unwise enough to ship anything but US mail/ Canada Post) charge an arm and a leg to chaperone your stuff through import... an expensive pleasure but an exquisite one!

Make sure you take your tracking and confirmation number with you. I had ordered something to be there last weekend. Disney shopping e-mailed me about a week before I went saying that it had been shipped out. Got to WDW and no package! Phoned Disney shopping and they could not get my tracking number. Long story short....Did not get my order now they are sending it to my house in Canada. They claim that I will not be charged. I'll believe that when I don't get a bill! Good luck
